Following a discussion on this board a few days ago I would like you guys to come up with as many players from between 1970 to the present day who have been awarded FULL international caps (while playing for your team). Not u18, u21 etc - Any country.

I do not intend to turn this into a discussion type of thread or any kind of competition between our 2 clubs - just for interest, and maybe some surprises along the way as we go down memory lane.

If you can give me the name, country and approx year (in that order)

I will be posting this on our board too along with a few other smaller PL teams and bigger Championship teams.

I think it could be interesting to see just how many international players both teams have had over the years and am willing to bet it's well over 100 between us (Norwich & Ipswich).

Ray Crawford (England) and Cyril Lea (Wales) miss out by just one season, so from 1970...

I haven't done the years yet, that'll take ages - I guess the format (Years for Town) (Years for country) would be best. These are roughly chronological though.

I'm looking up a few others to see if they played for their country while at Town, but these are confirmed:

    55 including 11 England:

How sad is it that we have to go back to Terry Butcher days to see English internationals (Wright accepted).
It makes you realise what a great homegrown side they were, if I saw a team with that many english internationals in now I would be suprised.

Sadly this list doesn't and won't indicate the magnitude of the international career. Norwich have four England internationals with just a handful of caps between them. The only way we could do that would be to extend it to caps won while at the club - but that would be quite some project. Anyway I need to crack on with our banner <ok>

I know Thai - what I mean is for example - years playing for club and country and caps won while at the club, thus:

    Mick Mills (England) 1972-1982 (42)

    Phil Boyer (England) 1976 (1)

Ah, I see. You can make work for yourself if you like <laugh>

I know what you mean though - so stop point scoring because your player won more caps

Hasn't big Jason Scotland got a few caps (Trinidad) also Tamas Priskin (Hungary) Martijn Reuser (Holland) Matteo Sereni (Italy) Thomas Gaardsoe (Denmark) plus Kieron Dyer made an appearance for England against Luxemborg whilst still a Town player, there the ones I can think of to add to the list already up

Priskin' should've been on the list, I thought he was, just an error, but no the others didn't win a cap while at Town as far as I can tell.

Dyer moved to Newcastle before his debut in September 1999.

I'll look at Reuser, Sereni and Gaardsoe.

The other ones who are maybes are Jason Scotland, Stern John, Carlos Edwards, Daryl Murphy and Rory Fallon.

    Romeo Zondervan (Holland)
    Finidi George (Nigeria)
    Matt Holland (Rep of Ireland)
    Jim Magilton (Northern Ireland)

Most capped Town player is the Legend Allan Hunter

Again, Adrian Paz never played for Uruguay while at Town. My browser crashed while updating so I will have to redo the list!
