Call it whatever you want to call it international friendly is not good for club football. The manager of England and many nations managers may like to disagree, but we have to call a spade a spade. Players are likely to sustain injuries which is not going to help the club they are playing for. As for Liverpool, they do not generally do well after international football, maybe, the players are tired or something else.I know certainly for sure that many premiership managers are not in support of international friendly. One premiership manager knows how to play them in their own game, your guess is as good as mine.
I call it a waste of time The fans call it a waste of time The clubs call it a waste of time at the wrong time The England management call it a valuable game to test players Stuart Pearce calls it a job application The FA call it a cash cow to pay for a massively expensive Wembly Only one of these is wrong, guess which
Internationals? Meh. If it looks like sh*t, smells like sh*t and tastes like sh*t then you probably shouldn't have tasted it!
Do I hear Rooney have sore throat..not available, but available for Tottenham game on Sunday.???.Please correct me if I am wrong.
If only that were true RHC, but I'm yet too see any positive outcome from any England friendlies (in fact make that any England game at all). Its always the same, the media hype and hype trying to find a reason to put these friendlies on TV. Already seen the ITV ad for the game, talking of a new era, how many new era's have England had in recent years and yet we're still ****.
I was joking Roger. Luckily, I was 8 years old in 1966, so I watched the World Cup final with my Dad That's the only England game I've ever enjoyed.
I didn't even care about that game much. I watch internationals, with an air of detachment, because I'll watch any football- but I can only get excited by club games.
I watched it because my Dad said you may never get the chance to see the possibility of England in a WC final again. Looks like he was right. I don't give a toss about them any more.
Rooney has missed the last 2 United games. We wouldn't drop him for that just so he couldn't play for England - we would have just made sure he picked up a 'mystery injury' against Norwich Seeming as it is an international break why don't you take this opportunity to meet up with RHC ?
Friendlies are being cut, and one off friendlies stopped. Internationals will now be played in blocks instead of random. Will be a much better method all around.
This group of internationals haven't bothered me as much as previous ones, when you have to wait 2 weeks between Liverpool games then it bugs me. My sole focus is on Arsenal.
No matter how good our players, England will never win anything until the players start to take being part of an international team more seriously. In this respect I would say that it the PL that is destroying England's chance of glory and not the other way round. Players have more chance of being injured in the PL than for internationals as England rarely perform with any vigour. If players don't want to commit fully to the England setup then they should be dropped or quit international football so that we can bring in players that will give everything for victory. I think everybody is disillusioned with England at the moment as they have underperformed for years, playing well below what we see in the PL week in week out, however I don't believe that's an excuse to give up on international football just the players who lack the passion and desire to which the role of playing for England deserves.
Just seen on the BBC that Gerrard has gone off injured. Any one know if it's a bad injury? Hope he will be ok for the weekend
Didn't look to be hobbling or anything and you'd have said it was a tactical sub if it werent the fact he walked straight down the tunnel. Hope it's not too bad
