How do we think England and Ireland will get on tomorrow night? Can't see the lads winning without Roon and Welbeck. Irish arent completely out of it but they are a dreadful team, probably best off out of Brazil after their last tournament showing
Polar bears do not recognise so called international boundaries. They are an artificial concept that cause nothing but grief.
lampard to receive his 100th England cap, John Terry to sneak in and grab it off him whilst posing for pictures.
The time has come the Walrus said........ to have a serious look at where and how England are going. Backwards would seem to be the majority viewpoint. Hodgson is obviously not the man for the job, he is out of date, dull, unimaginative and cautious, and his team is a mirror image of himself. There is surely enough talent in England to do a lot better than this. Time for the FA to put the broom through themselves, then the coaching staff, and then select a better team.
Wow that was dull. Cahill man of the match for me though. Great job in the centre. Awful going forward though. To think Mata struggles to get in the Spain team and we are playing people like Ashley Young, Milner and Cleverley. That's why we are a million miles behind the top teams...absolutely zero guile and inventiveness. We will probably still qualify given we have a weak group but we'll be quarters at best in Brazil.
For all the talk of grass roots, limiting foreigners etc, just wonder whether good old fashioned **** english weather plays the main part in the development of players in this country. How many young players end up plying their trade on hard or rain soaked pitches up and down the country all through their development where kick n rush is probably more effective than pass n move. Is it a coincedence that (maybe Germany and Holland aside) the most succesful teams and most technically gifted players generally come from places with better climate (Spain, Italy, France, the South Americans)?
As much as we won with Capello, McLaren, Eriksson, Keegan, Hoddle, Venebles, Taylor, Robson,Greenwood and Revie.
Not so much climate but culture. You aren't given anything in Spain, Argentina, Mexico or the other Latin countries, you have to earn it. Look at the top sportsmen around the world at the moment: Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer, Juan Martin Del Potro, Saul Alvarez, Manny Pacquiáo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi. The likes of Micah Richards, Kyle Walker and this current generation may give it 100% but they'll never get 110% and they'll also lose focus easily and get carried away with nightlife and so forth. One of the reasons I respect Lampard possibly more than any other current Chelsea player bar Mata is due to the fact he lived the lavish middle class lifestyle thanks to his Dad's fame and fortune but yet he aspired to work even harder and became a better footballer than his Dad despite arguably having less natural ability. Lampard, Scholes, Neville - the true professionals of the game with the same kind of mentality that the aforementioned have, are a dying breed.
