Crikey, there is yet another International break coming up. So might as well kick off with the good news. Neither Tom Cairney or Kevin McDonald is in the Scotland squad to play the Netherlands up in Aberdeen next week.
And the surprise news is that there are no Fulham players in the England U17 squad for games starting next Wednesday. That said, these matches are for a friendly mini-tournament also involving Portugal, Russia and Germany ahead of next year's Euro finals, which as as hosts England automatically qualify. From what I can see none of the lads just back from winning the World Cup in India are in the squad and Coach Cooper is giving another batch of youngsters a chance to shine.
However, England U19s begin the defence of their Euro title next week with a trip to Bulgaria for the first qualifying round. And Ryan Sessegnon is in the squad - as a midfielder. please log in to view this image England take on Iceland, Faroe Islands and the host nation, with the top two in the group progressing to the Elite Round next March.
And Tayo Edun is in England's U20 squad playing in Germany. Also selected in the midfield. PS Dennis Adeniran has also again been selected. Can't help but think he'd have been useful for us right now.
Good to see that young Ben Davis hasn't been forgotten by his country. The full list, so far: Senior squad Floyd Ayité (Togo) – Friendly Tomas Kalas (Czech Republic) – Friendlies Mattias Kait (Estonia) – Friendlies Neeskens Kebano (Congo) – World Cup Qualifier Oliver Norwood (Northern Ireland) – World Cup Play-Offs Under-21s Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson (Iceland) – European Qualifiers Under-20s Tayo Edun (England) – Friendly Under-19s Atli Andrason (Iceland) – European Qualifiers Mikolaj Kwietniewski (Poland) – Friendlies Ryan Sessegnon (England) – European Qualifiers Under-18s Ben Davis (Singapore) – AFC Championship
Comfortable star for England U19s with a 6-0 win over Faroe Islands. Ryan played the whole game - at left back - missed a sitter after 5 minutes and got fouled in the penalty box on the 76th. So you can gauge which part of the pitch he spent most of his time. Match report: http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/nov/08/england-u19s-6-0-faroe-islands-report-08111
Tomas Kalas didn’t feature as his Czech Republic teammates beat Iceland 2-1 in the friendly in Qatar yesterday evening. He wasn't even on the bench. Guess he'll be hoping to get nearer the game against hosts Qatar on Saturday. PS Our man Ragnar Sigurdsson was an unused sub for Iceland.
Has to be the headline of the day - "Tayo Edun is training with the England 1st Team." Obviously because of the number of players dropping out of Southgate's original squad but how fantastic is this for the young man? Surely must be only a matter of time before we see him as a regular first teamer.
Two wins in two for the U19s, beating Iceland 2-1 this evening. Ryan again playing at left back. please log in to view this image Match report: http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/nov/11/england-u19s-iceland-euro-qualifier-report-111117
Rough luck for our guys in World Cup qualifiers over the weekend. Neeskens Kebano's DR Congo beat Guinea 3-1 with the man scoring a late goal. However, undefeated Tunisia had a win over Lybia to pip them for the top spot in the Group. And of course, everyone will know about the dire penalty that knocked out Ollie Norwood's Northern Ireland in their two-header play off matches against Switzerland. Elsewhere: Tomas Kalas played 90 minutes on Saturday in the Czech Republic’s 1-0 win away in a friendly with Qatar. Mikolaj Kwietniewski played 78 minutes as an attacking midfielder in Poland Under 19’s 2-0 win in a friendly against Norway. Also on Saturday, Alti Andrason played 71 minutes for Iceland against his compadre Ryan Sessegnon in the U19 European Championship qualifier, which England won. On Sunday Floyd Ayité played 70 minutes as Togo beat Mauritius 6-0.
Ryan Sessegnon sat this one out as England U19s finished with a one hundred percent record in the Euro Qualifiers out in Bulgaria beating the hosts 1-0. Match report: http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/nov/14/england-u19s-bulgaria-euro-qualifier-report-141117 Probably good news for us since the lad has been playing an awful lot of football lately.
Tayo played for an hour - in central defensive midfield - for England U20s yesterday evening against Germany. It was a narrow 2-1 defeat for the English lads who had 57% of possession. Match report: http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/nov/14/england-u20s-germany-match-report-141117
