I raised this as a comment on a much earlier thread. Great that we have a lot of experienced players representing their country, but it can be a double edged sword. Less time together as a club with the posibility of injuries while away, though gaining valuable experience. Leaves us exposed for some games but gives youth a chance. International players in your team, a good thing or not? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...-for-carling-cup-common-sense-91466-29204854/
I think you have summed it up well there ccfc. From past experience, the worst scenario is for players to get injured when on international duty, for instance Dean Ashton hardly played again in these circumstances and retired in 2009. We have also seen this to a lesser degree with some of our Scots contingent coming back with injuries. However, it's great for your club's players to be recognised and selected (both for the player and club) - as long as they remember they still have to do it for their clubs when they return. Now who could I be thinking about? On balance a good thing as it can take players on to the next level.
The thing with the Scottish contingent, and even worse for Kiss, is even the home games involve a lot of travelling!
In fairness remote, the Scots can get up there within an hour, unless its RyanAir and then they could end up going via Paris ... but like you say, the likes of Kiss, Gunnar and even Gyepes (if he gets selected) all involve a fair bit of travelling. The more international players the better imo and I can't recall the last time an international game/s fell on the same night as a cup/league fixture but what annoys me is when these players, who would normally play in their club game, travel to wherever just to sit on the bench.
Commons just dropped out of Scotland squad. Hope they keep their mitts off Conway. Also, if Marshall keeps on playing like last Saturday he won't stay under Levein's radar for long.
unless its for wales, you dont want important players going for internationals, especially at this stage of the season the only ones i can think of that will be getting call ups from our squad are miller, earnshaw and kiss, so its not really an issue for us.
i have to be fair i enjoy the fact that sometimes our lesser players get a chance to show what they can do, and our managers hands are tied in terms of selection. No disrespect to oxford but i think our second string should be able to give them a game. I hope Rudy puts in a solid 90 and gets a Goal, which can only help to settle him. And we have one or two youngsters that hopefully get the valuable experience of being in the mix, on a first team basis. I am going for a Bluebirds win 3-1.
I completly agree with Grange! Our fringe players and youngster have agreat chance to remind Malky why they have been given the opportunity to be with the first team! I would love for one of them to step up and shine! I can also still see us being too strong for Oxford and reckon 2-0 today.
