Nice finish by Che Adams.

Idah's dreadful, but you can't give him that sort of space.
Parrott should probably have passed it, too. Doesn't matter if they go in, though.

Hojbjerg and Eriksen scored as Denmark beat Kulusevski's Sweden 2-1 in Copenhagen:

Our ginger was one of the few players to complete the 90 minutes, as was Eriksen.

Ornstein’s said Maddison won’t make the final England squad.

Happy with that, I doubt he would’ve played too much as there’s others clearly ahead in the pecking order but this removes any risk of injury throughout the tournament.

This is being reported across the board now, he has apparently already left the training camp. Good news really, can have a good break work on his fitness and be ready to go full speed into a complete pre season.

It must be a while since England went to a tournament without a Spurs player, in Russia we supplied half the team!

This comes as no surprise really, he has been off the boil since the injury last year , good chance to get fit and comeback next season

Yeah, imo he was lucky to make the initial squad so this is no surprise. Even at his best he’s still probably not good enough to make the squad when you consider the options England currently have.

From the BBC, this is the finalised England squad:

Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson, Jordan Pickford, Aaron Ramsdale.

Defenders: Lewis Dunk, Joe Gomez, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker.

Midfielders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Gallagher, Kobbie Mainoo, Declan Rice, Adam Wharton.

Forwards: Jude Bellingham, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon, Harry Kane, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney, Ollie Watkins.

Good? Bad? Ugly?
Left-back is the obvious problem, in my opinion.

Branthwaite is the only one omitted that really deserved to go, thought he was great for Everton and is comfortably the best young CB England has at the moment, left footer too so could’ve covered LB. Shaw being the only LB after missing the majority of the season is the type of ***** selection decision I’ve grown accustomed to under Southgate though.

Talking about it on the Prem board too but what’s everyone’s preferred XI assuming all are fit to play the first game?

I’d go with:

Pickford
Walker, Guehi, Stones, Shaw
Rice, Wharton
Saka, Bellingham, Foden
Kane

Pretty much the same except mainoo for Wharton.

Toney has to go otherwise you’re left with two strikers and imagine Kane gets injured first game. Then it’s just Watkins for the whole tournament.

If Kane misses any matches I would rather see a front 3 of Saka, Palmer and Bellingham with Foden as the 10 and we would still have Gordon, Bowen and Eze on the bench which is why I see Toney as surplus to requirements

For the group games, would expect that they are hoping Shaw will be available for the knock out games and that we might add a more defensive midfield player for Palmer at that point too

I’m surprised Branthwaite didn’t go. I think he’s a cut above the other left sided CBs and he’d have plenty of experience alongside him with Stones. I think Southgate has said Shaw should be fit for the second group game, which can only be good news.

I think I would have gone for Grealish instead of Gallagher, the other night it was the Grealish Maddison one two which lead to the Kane goal , just a hunch that Grealish could add to the game late on
