after 6 games last season we had 7 points

    Yeah just looked at that:

    http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/premier-league/2010-2011/custom-table

It's a good site this as you can customise your table to retrieve stats for loads of stuff like this

    Last season: P6 W1 D4 L1 F 9 A10 7pts
    This Season: P5 W1 D2 L2 F 6 A 4 5pts

So if we win on Monday by any amount then it will be a better start than last season - as I've said before - A large amount of the "BoB" are raising their heads more because we were beaten by the mags than anything to do with the results - had that game been against Man Utd I still think peope would be more behind Bruce

I think with last season, although we only beat City in the first 6, that was a stand out result.

In those 6 games, the 4 draws were the opener against Brum, where we would have won had Catts stayed on, but the other draws were impressive, Arsenal + Man United home, plus Liverpool at Anfield.

Even after that, was a decent draw away to Blackburn, then a win at home to Villa, so when you look at the calibre of oppo, the fact a few were away, it was impressive in that way.

    The 5-1 came next like...

Amazing how much relief a win brings, I would certainly think 4 points from the next 2 games is very realistic.

A win on Monday and this will relieve even more pressure off us for the West Brom game at home and hopefully see some very good football.

What a difference a week makes!

Since being back in the premier leaque after 6 games we have had the following points:

    07/08 - 7
    08/09 - 7
    09/10 - 9
    10/11 - 7
    11/12 - 5, 6 or 8

(I keep a spreadsheet to compare!)

    Liverpool (A), Newcastle (H), Swansea (A), Chelsea (H), Stoke (H)

Draw at Liverpool was obviously a good result, the Derby is unpredictable ( and would have been better if we had played them later on in the season imo), Swansea was disappointing but not end of the world, chelsea was expected, and Stoke was an excellent result (vs expectations of how hard we thought it would be..).

But yeah, the opposition was harder 12 months ago over the 1st 6 games however, if we beat Norwich our start to the season wont have been too shabby this season either.

Hate the way he keeps critising "up here" all the time. He's getting the stick because of the end of last season and the losing carried on. Hopefully we've put a rocket up his arse :)
