Not sure whether to take this article with a large pinch of salt. Or not. But he's largely right, the top seven are virtually uncatchable, so the rest of us just throw vast amounts of money at trying to be less 'average' than we were last year - and than our contemporaries are this year? http://www.football365.com/john-nic...-Avoiding-Relegation-Makes-For-Ugly-Spectacle
Think he´s described it very accurately, the Premier League these days is really only a glorified Scottish Premier League of a few years ago, when both Celtic and Rangers were there. They competed with each other for the title, while the rest competed to stay in the division, and the same is happening here, the only difference being, we have 5 teams who can win the title instead of just two. Can only see it continuing in the same vein for the forseeable future.
Totally agree with your comments Cromer and RBF. I would really welcome a Euro League where the Big Boys could compete against the best from Spain,Italy,Germany etc. That would leave the rest of us to compete on a more level field week in week out. No chance I know, but I can but dream.
Not sure that would be a good idea. You'd lose the vast majority of the TV money, you wouldn't get to play at any of the big grounds or against any of the big teams, you wouldn't have the thrill of the big teams coming to town and basically it would just end up as a two-tier Championship.
