He's spot on to be honest. But he misses the key point, that its introducing Americanism into a very proud British tradition. That's where the problem lays.
He's also missed the point about it not being progress and not raising extra revenue. I emailed him first thing.
If he wants to take the romance, heritage and sense of belonging away from his football club and fellow supporters, then that is his prerogative. Personally I don't believe he has ever known what football clubs are really about. His pathetic swipe about sums him up.
The thing is, until its tried, no one can be 100% sure whether it will work or not. It's currently no mans land, so that can't be stated as fact until its tried and tested and ultimately failed.
Good piece actually. Apart from the "temporary premier league club that is". An owner can do what he likes. As customers they can do the same.
I agree, and it does seemed destined for failure. But equally, there could be a big partnership in place for next season riding on it, which obviously Dr. Allam would keep locked away safely from thieves. It would certainly explain his irrationality and dodging of questions when pursued on the matter. We just don't know.
He was quizzed on this at the meeting, he dismissed it out of hand, I don't believe there is any Chinese billionaire waiting in the wings.
