Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool teams have only lost 4 games after New years day since he took over.

    4 games in 2 blocks of jan-may.

It shows that his teams finish the season strong.

The future is looking good and with Utd on the slide I reckon the top 4 will be

    Chelsea
    Man City
    Liverpool
    Arsenal

This season has significant parallels with last season. Hear me out.

We've had a key striker missing for a prolonged period. Sturridge because of injury this season rather than Suarez because of bitey suspension last.

The return of key striker has allowed us to get the best out of other attacking players. Sterling and Balo this season since Sturridge has come back, like Sturridge and Sterling last season when Suarez came back.

The return of our key striker has coincided with the emergence of a brilliant new talent. Sturridge's return paired with Ibe's emergence this season. Suarez's paired with Sterling's last season.

Add to that the fact that we have loads of promising new players integrating into the team and starting to come good and it does look like we should push on in the latter stages of this season.

We've even had the same ****ty, unpredictable defence as last season for much of this season, but this seems more settled since we've had three at the back, so this should become even more stable moving forward.

Lots of footy to play and as much as I hope you are right it's going to be difficult to get in the top 4.

70 points will hopefully do it. if so, we need 25 out of 36 points.

MITO suggests that we simply win every game versus non top four sides + Utd = 27 points. That's quite a tough ask imo but both are feasible if we continue current form.

2 home games in the next 6 days so things will get a little clearer again within a week. It's gunna be tight! ,ok>

    So this form

I must say that we need to consider that rodgers never had a cup run in either year either

I think <whistle> it'll be down to how well he manages the squad via rotation that decides where we end up

Plenty of twists and turns still to come but at least we're in the conversation.

4 games lost... Pretty good record have to give him credit for that.

If onlu we started this season in sinilar fashion then the title would be ours!!

Hopefully with a more settled squad at the start of next year (assume we won't be selling / buying loads of players like last summer) then hopefully can start the season in good form and hope to carry it on.

Splash the cash on a proper DM (as think lucas will be off in summer) and another midfielder.

Pjanic and Song or Kondogbia are now my 2 Id splash the cash on and just leave the rest as it is.

Balotelli should go so we cannot repeat the stupidity of this year

We will need a consistently good, regularly scoring striker who def understands our style of play. Any of Balo, Bori and Lamb could and should be away.

We will need another quality Dm/Cm to compete with Can once he is moved forward permanently. Lucas isn't good enough and yeah looks like he's away. Gerrard's away. Hendo's more a box to box type than to sit in the middle. Not that Can isn't like this, so we def need that sitting midfielder who can break up moves, link the back-line with the forwards for the transitional stuff and has an eye for a pass.

We will need two defenders I think. One to fill the void left by Can (assuming we stick to three at back) and one to replace Lovren who should be away.

We will also need a new GK who is either on the same level with Ming or better. Jones should be away.

Get all those done over the summer and keep hold of the stand-out performers of this season (and diva Raheem) and we should be good.

    Mario has to go. Agreed.

Would leave a slot for one top striker: Lacazette, Sturridge, Origi, Ings (if we sell Borini and Mario)

We'll definitely need another CM as we're losing Gerrard. Hopefully Lucas will stick around. I can see us in for Delph if Villa are relegated although wouldn't be my choice!

If we continue to play 3 at the back, we'll need another CB - although I'm assuming Can will be pushed into a midfield role (this may negate the need for the CM role above.....but I still reckon we'll need someone else).

We need a top GK - Cech would be interesting!!

So four players required: FW, CM, CB, GK

So we'll probably buy 4 wing backs and a couple more no.10's <ok>

If we get CL again and with some potentially decent players coming out of contract, it's not unfeasible that we could see this.

Dont think a gk is vital. Mig looks a new player since his break and if he can continue like that then he'll be fine.

Too op early to get rid and write off Lovren I feel
