Brought back a few memories, I was at the final game shown at White Hart Lane, Mark Dennis sent off for clouting Ardiles. Jim Smith was a very good manager, obviously prepared to try new things. The sports psychologist seems a little stilted and its a bit classroomy but some of the players obviously took it seriously. And he didn't have to stand in the tunnel patting everyone on the back or resort to slogans.
I loved that side. Paul Parker - what a player! On the dark side though, Mark Dennis and Gavin Maguire. Fair play to Jim Smith for encouraging the experiment, but Shreeves seemed less keen. Maybe he always spoke through gritted teeth.
I was at Spurs that day. I remember Mad mark running halfway down the pitch to get sent off. He really was a nutter but a tough defender as well.
Thanks sb for posting that. I was impressed by Martin Allen and his openness to something new and his desire to improve.
