Sky News ‏@SkyNews 33m DAILY STAR FRONT PAGE: "England get 2018 world cup" #skypapers pic.twitter.com/P1fQ2Kk3Db Brilliant if that's true! But highly doubt it.
I can't believe they would lead with this story based in some random thought one person claimed could happen. It's incredibly likely to be bull.
Why should we give a ****e, after all the stadiums will be the same as where picked in our attempt to get it and the whole of the East of England, apart from Newcastle, has been forgotten whilst the South and the North West have most of the games. Hope it is a load of bullshit to be honest.
Didn't Hillsborough get one? And really, take Newcastle out and the east side of the country doesn't have a massive stock.
Don't be a prat. There are many stadiums much either a) better than ours, or b) have a greater size that should be picked. To say that we shouldn't give a ****e that our country is hosting the World Cup is ridiculous.
They guaranteed a 46-50k capacity, our council guaranteed they wouldn't pay to increase ours and our owner won't extend a council house, we were never in the running.
I don't think Humberside Police's ineptness will have helped. If they couldn't police a friendly against Feyenoord what price Poland v Germany? Wanting everyone out of the city and all the bars shut ASAP don't score highly either.
I think that if we did get Poland v Germany it might discussed on Sportstalk after Grimsby but before North Ferriby. They would make a hash of pronouncing the names and then titter about it.
We were in the running and were serious about the bid. Further, if I recall correctly, Allam wasnât even our owner during the host city bidding process and defined provision was put in place, as part of the bid, to increase our capacity if we were successful. All in all, it was nothing but utterly shambolic that MK was picked ahead of us other venues.
MK was staging the women's FACF yesterday, Less than half full but stadium is some size now. A rich man's Darlo.
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/World-Cup-bid-kicks/story-11952780-detail/story.html HULL'S bid to host World Cup football will be kicked forward when the England 2018 inspection team visits the city next month. The city's KC Stadium is on the list of potential venues to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022. Hull already has international credentials after hosting England under-21 football at the KC Stadium. England is competing with eight rival countries to stage the 2018 tournament, for which a minimum of 12 host stadiums would be required. Hull is preparing to submit an outline bid by July 8. The city will then receive an inspection visit by the England 2018 bid team on July 15. Hull City Council and East Riding Council are supporting the city's bid, with partners including Hull City Football Club, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire, Hull Forward, Yorkshire Forward and the Kingston Communications Stadium Management Company. Hull City Council leader Councillor Carl Minns said: "Should Hull and subsequently England be successful with the bids, not only would it be a tremendous privilege, it would also bring great benefits to the area such as the creation of jobs, new developments and boost the local economy." The bid includes outline plans to extend the KC Stadium with permanent and temporary seating to provide a seating capacity of around 44,000. East Riding Council leader Councillor Stephen Parnaby said his authority is "100 per cent behind the bid." He said: "To be chosen as a host city would be a great honour and can be the catalyst for regeneration and economic growth."
