...today with a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder. Close business colleague. We were on the same site visit and grabbed a sandwich together before I deposited him at Ebbsfleet. My red card popped out of my wallet when I was buying us lunch. It was an accident. Honest guv! I couldn't resist it! Very interesting to hear his views. As I thought, the Dave Jones factor is immense. They can't believe the transformation in their play but also can't belive that despite their run of form they are not catching us. I didn't make him feel any better when I explained that our results and our form were not quite in synch! They don't expect to catch us. They are fully focussed on Sheffield United to the point of obsession and vice versa. They acknowledge that in any other season we'd be out of sight already but the extra momentum of chasing their city rivals has driven both to their current form. Vitriolic about Ched Evans. I can't repeat his views. If he goes down the fact that he has in the meantime scored shedloads is not going to go down well with Sheff Weds fans. Can't understand why we released Llera and, to a lesser extent, Semedo. I agreed with the former but not the latter. His season ticket is £100 more expensive than mine - unusual for "oop north" to be dearer than London.

Semedo left because The Owls offered him more money than we did. I hope the Wednesday fans appreciate how much Semedo hates Millwall, so that they can put it into song.

You 'deposited' him? What line of business is this exactly?

    Nice little read <ok>

Interesting that he rates Llera over Semedo! At least Semedo has a great deal of passion in his play, aside from being a danger from set-pieces Llera is pretty useless. Perhaps another couple of seasons in League One and then they'll understand why we let the pair go ;)

Apparently, the atmosphere in some of our Sheffield offices has been somewhat strained this season and to echo your colleague's view, two opposing supporters e-mailed me after our brace of victories, not to congratulate us on beating their own team, but each others! Both of them thought we were too far away to worry about, but the thought of either gaining on us was the main priority.

I remember having a meeting with a colleague in Sheffield a couple of years ago, we were joined for part of the meeting by an eye-wateringly attractive woman and he went very quiet while she was in the room. Eager to indulge in prurient gossip, I asked him if there was something going on between them. 'Wish there was' he said 'I did ask her out but she said no'. I commiserated and he went on 'Yeah, because I'm a Blade'.

    Unreal.
