so as a change from all the testing articles, i have changed the mood by writing this article about some facts i found browsing the internet.

DID YOU KNOW that in 1997 three drivers Jacques Villeneuve Micheal Schumacher and Heinz Harold Frentzen all qualified with the exact same lap time down to 1000's of a second on a 2.752 mile long circuit in a time of 1 minute 21.072 seconds at Jerez.Villeneuve got the pole position because he set the time first.

Did you know that Heinz Harold Frentzen former girlfriend is now Micheal Schumacher's wife.

Did you Know up to 4500 bottles of wine, 1500 bottles of champagne, 2000 kg of fillet beef and 700 sides of smoked salmon can be consumed around the British GP over the three day event.

An F1 car is made up of 80,000 components, if it were assembled 99.9% correctly; it
would still start the race with 80 things wrong

F1 cars have over a kilometer of cable linked to about 100 sensors and actuators which
monitor and control many parts of the car.

An F1 car can go from 0 to 160 kph AND back to 0 in FOUR seconds

When an F1 driver hits the brakes on his car he experiences ******ation or deceleration
comparable to a regular car driving through a BRICK wall at 300kmph!!!

An average F1 driver looses about 4kgs of weight after just one race due to the
prolonged exposure to high G forces and temperatures for little over an hour (Yeah that!¯s
    right!!!)

At 550kg a F1 car is less than half the weight of a Mini.

To give you an idea of just how important aerodynamic design and added downforce can
be such that small planes can take off at slower speeds than F1 cars travel on the track

The amount of aerodynamic downforce produced by the front and rear wings and the car
underbody is amazing. Once the car is traveling over 160 kph, an F1 car can generate
enough downforce to equal its own weight. That means it could actually hold itself to the
CEILING of a tunnel and drive UPSIDE down!

hope you enjoyed it, if the feedback is good i have loads more

Love your avatar and your facts and enthusiasm but seen all these facts except for the British GP food and drink one.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy it here.If you have any questions it might be wise not to ask me as I am also a newbie so you might want to ask a senior member.

    Enjoy.

Nice facts, the best has got to be the weight of an F1 car compared to a Mini. F1 cars have all these wings, and ok they are only half the height of most of the drivers, but are quite long, and with addition of larger fuel tanks and KERS, you'd think they'd weigh a lot more. Considering Mini's are much shorter and compact, it's quite hard to believe. Just goes to show that small hatchbacks are actually becoming quire big and heavy.

Very good article, nice break from this thing called testing...

Did anyone watch the Forum last year when DC had some facts about deceleration and him and EJ were arguing about whether the braking force on a front tyre was equivalent to an African elephant or an Asian elephant. <laugh>
