http://www1.skysports.com/football/...ve-Bruce-has-promised-Paul-McShane-a-new-deal Particularly the bit about not trusting any previous manager he's played under. I'll admit I was one who never wanted to see him in a City shirt again a year or two ago but he really has turned it around this season. Premier League though?
I think McShane will be a very good squad player to have. Not sure about starting him but he's been brilliant this season so you never know. He's got a point to prove and a desire to play well for Bruce and the club so he certainly deserves another contract.
Wrong. It was Bruce. August 2009 is when the permanent transfer went through when Bruce was Sunderland manager, and McShane was the makeweight in the Turner deal.
I think our team had some great characters this season, I just hope we don't ruin it... I wonder what the impact would be of players like dawson, mcshane, mclean, rosie leaving the dressing room. I am not sure we should pay them wages simply for their personality but I think it's an important part of a club.
Reading that SB is going to offer him a new deal, don't see him being a regular starter in the PL but probably cover, maybe AB too.
McShane has to stay, because he's good enough. And Rosie, because he's good enough. And Simpson because he's cheap as chips and has loads of heart, and might perform a useful energetic sub role in the Premier League. I think it's already accepted that Dawson's had his last season, and McLean will surely be out on loan again.
Macca is only 27 so coming into the prime for a defender...i am hopeful that with a recognised Prem defender in there Macca can do the business as he seems to have the character to learn and move forward
In fairness, that situation was more complicated than simply who sold him. If you remember, McShane had been recalled from a team where he was playing some of the football of his career to a team that had previously frozen him out purely to stop City from faring better than Sunderland. Even though at a club level you can understand that - the Sunderland fans had long since turned on him, McShane was hardly going to be grateful. Bruce then came in - there was a player he wanted at City, he also had a player who wanted to be at City, who City incidentally also wanted. It was a no-brainer. Any hostility McShane would have had for Sunderland must surely have been aimed at Ricky Sbragia, not Bruce.
should Jnr be used in premier league? personally I think he should be used against the top teams, just to see if he can make the step up. If he can cut it against them, then that shows he is able to cut it against the lower teams.
I think the majority of players will stay at least for a while. Who really knows how any of them will fair until they are given the chance. We don't have that big a squad to be able to start getting rid of people. Bruce will be extremely careful as to who he brings in. Saying that I thought I read something a while back saying Mclean is free to find another club. Worry about Tom Cairney as well, will he be kept on.
I don't think any previous McShane manager trusted him either .He was as mad as a cut snake for most of his career and was more likely to be red carded than he was to complete a full game without incident.Age seems to have mellowed him somewhat but it hasn't improved his technical skill level or his positional sense which at times is woeful.
Agreed. I would keep all the players who played in the final game plus the injured players. We then need to bring in some better players for the spine of the team.
Would think that we'll do most of the business in the close season to get bodies in to go on pre-season training camp. The season starts and there is a transfer window until end of August to tweak the ins and outs.
We've spent most of the past few years paying him £1m a year to play for other clubs. It seems remarkable to me that we're about to give him another contract, he's a nice bloke and he's totally committed, but he has nowhere near the ability to play in the Premier League.
