Ronnie Irani (an Essex-based, Bolton-born, United fan and Talk****E presenter) made an interesting comment this morning. He is a big supporter of Kenny Dalglish and has been very complimentary towards LFC this year, and today he said ; "Kenny Dalglish has bought really well and I said they will get 4th(behind Yernited, Citeh and Chelski) and they really need Stevie Gerrard back" Well both those things cannot be true. Either King Kenny has wisely invested £100M+ (net of sales) on Transfer Fees and Wages or Kenny Dalglish has blown £100M+ (net of sales) and hasn't moved the Club on from being a one-man-team. In the Summer, I suggested that KD had improved the Squad in terms of depth, which was badly needed. But hadn't improved the 1st XI at all, and of course was pronounced a WUM, which I am not. So with the season in it's infancy, but the top 3 showing a painfully predicatable look, in order to secure 4th place have LFC sufficiently; 1. Improved the 1st XI? 2. Improved the Squad? 3. Shed the One-Man-Team tag?
Hasn't improved the first 11? I think he has... Enrique.. is better than Aurelio. No doubt about that. Downing.. is better than Jovanovic/nobody else as we didn't even have a LW. The Jury is still out on Henderson. Apart from atleast 2 players then you're right. It's not a case of the players at the moment; it's a case of the tactics. This is the same team that beat Arsenal 2-0, who rightfully beat Sunderland. We got the tactics right in those games and selected the right players, against Spurs we had the wrong players and the wrong tactics away from home. Are we one man team? Get a grip, we hadn't had Gerrard for 6 months! We've won plenty of games in between then and now, and looked better in the process.
We are a better team than last year... We are playing better football with better tactics than we did last year... Obviously we got it wrong yesterday though...
Stop trying to turn this in to some crises that it isn't. Unfortunately Kelly and Johnson were unavailable so we played Skrtel right back (why it wasn't Carra from the start and then 20 minutes in to the game when it was clear he couldn't cope I don't know). Liverpool had a shocker of a day - and Spurs just happened to play the best they've played in yonks. Recipe for disaster and thats exactly what it turned in to.
