Arsenal's attempts to make Argentine midfielder Ricardo Alvarez their replacement for Cesc Fabregas are in serious doubt after Inter Milan submitted a bid for the player. Arsene Wenger was confident of getting his man confident and expected to complete a deal for the 23-year-old in the next few days. But have now made a £10.3 million for the Velez Sarsfield midfielder. That figure is said to be higher than Arsenal's bid, but below the asking price of £11 million. Velez president Fernando Raffaini suggested that Inter would be an appealing destination for Alvarez. He said: "I did meet with two Inter officials and we need to see each other again soon. "Alvarez to Inter is certainly possible." But the player himself has been talking up a move to the Emirates on social networking site Twitter. He wrote: "I would love to play for Arsenal, it would be a dream for me. God willing it will happen!"
