I know itâs not about our club, or one of our former players, but this is humbling stuff. Tony Mowbray and all involved at Middlesbrough, I take my hat off to you. All the very best to Gary Parkinson for the future. Pure courage. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/22112011/58/championship-paralysed-parkinson-scouting-boro.html
Spot on BUT it goes to show how important it is to have an employer who will support you. "In the real world" how many employers would give someone like this a chance to prove themselves and not look past the title of their illness? Not very many, sadly Good for him and good for the club to employing him - More needs to be done like this. A neighbour I used to have was blind and he used to go to work every day, used to cycle!! Funny i'd never thought about it before but he'd struck up a deal with another employee and bought a tandem so the sighted employee sat at the front and he sat at the back and off they used to go work every day, till he was sadly made redundant then spent the next 12 months not even managing to get an interview, smashing chap really intelligent too!
Makes me feel stupid for having complained about a fall in the street! Very humbling and awe-inspiring article, it shows how the world could be, given the chance! Mowbray has risen a myriad of notches in my estimation!
