During a recent tour of the stadium we were shown into the home dressing room which was full of the players shirts hanging their on their individual pegs waiting for Match Day to come around, photo's adorn the walls of past and present players. One thing got my attention and it was explained by Monty who said that during Peter Reids days he din't want any of the clubs history to be on the walls or even ion the stadium, he said that all of that stuff belonged back at Roker Park. The past is the past and this is the future was how it was put. When Keano took over he couldn't believe that we didn't have anything to remind us of our past successes and the tradition of the club so he set about to rectify this which is why when you walk around the concourse you see Pictures everywhere and rightly so. As the players are about to leave the dressing room to get onto the pitch they have to walk past this plaque which was erected by Keano, not sure if they are his words (doubt it) but it's rather fitting of the man IMO. If you think you are beaten, you are. If you think you dare not, you don't, If you like to win, but think you can't, it is almost certain you won't. If you think you'll lose, you're lost. For out in the world we find, Success begins with a fellows will - it's all in the state of mind. If you think you are outclassed, you are. You've got to think high to rise, You've got to be sure of yourself before you can ever win a prize. Life battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man, but soon or late the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.
