I think I have been bitten by a spider or some insect or other when inspecting a disused university building today..My left forearm swelled up, went red and very hot which has prevented me from going out tonight after work which I intended to do.. It is still red and hot now, but the swelling seems to be going down.. I have never suffered anything like this before..

Can you see a bite mark on your arm?

There is one mark which I am assuming is the bite mark. It is bang in the middle of where it is red..

Never had anything like this before..No pain like a bee or wasp sting but could literally see my arm swelling up.. I think the worst is over with, although it is still red and hot..

Sounds pretty nasty. A bit shocked I haven't experienced anything like that over here yet.

Summer and camping season is coming though so I'm sure I'll be ****ed soon enough.

Hahahahaha. Done it a couple of times already. They're big on water skiing and **** over here. Very outdoorsy. I just sit on the riverbank and drink cans, waiting to meet my maker after being introduced by a brown, red belly black or some other horrid snake/creepy crawly.

Nowt yet. Just a sore liver.

Even the water isnt safe. There is a 99.9% chance of being eaten by a shark or croc.

No crocodiles in Victoria. Don't go in the sea though as that's the great whites' house.

Living abroad you become familiar with all the little nasty sh"ts but not many in the uk.

However a couple of years ago the British rags were full of stories of false widow spiders biting folks causing symptoms like yours. The bites while not being strong emough to cause death did lead to secondary issues such as ulceration of the skin and heavy fever.

The spider bites were mainly reported from people working in garages, sheds etc so not dissimilar to your case.

    Get it checked out.

I get bitten now and again when out golfing at Southwood. Tiny little black bug like flies bite ya and suck out ya blood then fukc off.
You only feel a tiny tickle and that's when they have just gone, little bastards.
leaves a big red mark about 2 inches in diameter and swells up a fair bit too, worse thing is though that they itch for about 3 or 4 days after, just got yomped twice yesterday and feel like scratching my calf off they itch that much.

As a diabetic, if my blood sugar is high I am like a magnet for any blood sucker. Will often get bitten 10+ times. Fortunately I'm pretty well controlled most of the time now
