    With the below players gone

    Gordon
    Ringo
    Gyan
    Riveros
    Angeleri
    Liddle
    Cook
    Carson
    Tounkara
    Bridge
    Kyrgiakos
    Turner (close to being gone)

With Only Cuellar coming in i hope we will be seeing a few new players arrive very soon the season kicks off in 3 1/2 weeks.

Based on the amount of players that have left i can see 5-6 players arriving before the end of August.

If Elmo, Richo and one of Vaughan or Gardner could be seeing 7 or 8 come in

We need tht many as our squad will be paper thin

    Is it though?

Gordon (didnt play a lot last year, and we have 2 good keepers anyway)
Ringo (hasnt played for us for 2-3 seasons, wont be missed)
Gyan ( pissed off at the start of last year, we missed him last year as we couldnt replace, hopefully wont be missed this year, as we can)
Riveros (out on loan all last season, didnt really impress when he was here)
Angeleri (Injured and didnt get a lot of game time at all, wont be missed)
    Liddle (Youth)
    Cook (Youth)
    Carson (Youth)
    Tounkara (Youth)
Bridge (Loan so not ours anyway)
Kyrgiakos (Loan so not ours anyway)
Turner (Not 1st choice anyway, decent backup though)
Elmo (everyones whipping boy, cant do anything right, so probably wont be missed)
Ricco ( see elmo both of them have been whippin boys in the past, but i think more will be sorry to see the back of ricco than Elmo)

none of them were 1st team regulars last season, yes its a lot of players, but not very important players for us from last year.

When you think about this in terms of wages SAFC must be saving at least a million pounds a month. Enough to buy a decent player after a few months. Coupled with the new sponsorship deals, new shirt launches. Other new deals announced we must be in a pretty strong position. Short seems to be getting the business side of things to new levels. This can only be good for the playing side of things.. We have a good manager in place. We just need the signings.

If we sign Llorente and Dioumba, with N'Zonzi, and possibly Johnson, how would everyone feel? Not saying it will happen, but think about it... MOved on average players, Tina possibly out along with Richo and Gardner. Who's to say that we wont sign the quality that Short is on about? Even if that means breaking the wage structure with the garbage moved out? Extra 19million quid a year can pay for alot of quality...

And before anyone says im delusional, yes, this is hypothetical... but is it science fiction, or reality?

O'Neill is doing things the right way.

He needs to make sure he goes into the new season with a well-equipped defence. Having an out of shape defence is route one for relegation, so whilst there's a requirement for attacking options to be brought to your club, he needs to make sure you're tight at the back first and foremost. You have goals in your side already, you're no longer a team with only one string (Bent) to your bow, so O'Neill isn't going to get desperate on that front, I'm sure he can count on Campbell, Larssen, Sessegnon and McClean to get enough for now. Chuck £10m at a striker and he mights score 15 goals in a few months but that's no good if your back 4 has let in 30.

You still have loads of time to get a striker in, it seems Wolves are playing hard ball with their striker but it's inevitable that Fletcher will leave before their season kicks off, £8-10m strikers don't hang around the 2nd tier. I can personally see a deal involving Wickham going to Wolves for a year or even permanently as part of the deal.

Facts are, of all the players gone, only Turner was worth keeping.

MON is doing the right thing, and getting rid of players that are not good enough for us.

I'd rather keep Ricco, and we need a CB with some ability, I like Noble at West Ham & Dawson at Spurs, but we haven't a realistic chance of either.

Collins is a solid player, and better than Turner on the ball, but it's glacial progress, maybe young Laing can move forward, I hear he's quite good with the ball?

Rember the talk before the end of last season, task one to clear the decks and lower the wage bill. If Tina goes that will be 17 out this summer, task one done. Now MON will start on task 2, Shorts words, quality not quantity, exciting times ahead.

I'd consider moving back to England so as to not miss games!

We have got rid of a LOT of average players on big contracts, we are clearing the decks for a big one, I feel it!

Noble is a central midfielder, but a good player. Dawson too injury prone, you'd be making a mistake to pay out for him imo.

Noble has played a lot of games CM, but he was initially a CB, and a decent one, with a good range of passing.

I know Dawson is a crock, and he's not for sale anyway, just thinking of the kinda player we need to move forward.
