We were linked with Inler for how long .... but no .. we have Song ! He has great technique striking the ball and has some bite in the tackle. What a ball in for Cavani, Song can only dream of striking the ball like that. I've spoken many times about technique and Song's lack of it, Inler has struck the ball with "check" about 4 times now, I've never seen Song do it once. And we wonder why we are sliding backwards.
No doubt Milan are a far far far better side than napoli. And yeh we probably didnt buy inler because he was over 18 years old.
I don't think Inler to be a better player than Song, but, why does it have to be either or? Song & Inler.....if we ever want to win titles again!

Ammaar, darling, did you even watch our game tonight? If so you will realise it was fairly even with Napoli deserving to win and that the scorline was quite flattering, it wasn't a mismatch like you lot against Milan, we actually put up a fight! Chelsea and Arsenal are clubs going through/about to go through transition, Spurs will be in it next year and if they keep their key players they will get pretty far.

What makes Song a good player to you ? Please tell me. Song to me is a very basic footballer with very poor technique, he doesn't have bite in the tackle, he bundles people off the ball, he isw slow and clumsy. Please tell me what he does that any half decent semi pro CM can't do because I am at a loss as to why he is rated, I really am. The problem I see is, we don't have any CMs who can tackle and because Song is/was head and shoulders better than Fabregas, Ramsey, Denilson, Diaby and Arteta at tackling he is some sort of trooper in the role. Hew is poor. He wouldn't get into any other club in the top club, no way in the world.
This strikes me as strange, when he sent RVP through and he scored that great volley, Arsenal fans couldn't speak high enough of him. Several suggested on the Spurs board that he was better than Parker but you seem to be at the opposite end of that.
I'd have bought Parker. Song has weaknesses I don't want to quote right now. Big game coming up. Right now I'll say Song is the best midfielder in the world. (ahem).
In my view Song has all the attributes you say he doesn't! His technique is good i.e first touch, dribbling, shielding the ball. He tackles well & is good if not great in the air. He isn't at Cesc's level, but, Song can pick a pass & has demonstrated that on numerous occasions this term. He can look weighty & cumbersome, but on closer inspection is neither. He isn't lightning quick, neither is Inler. My biggest gripe with Alex Song is that he has the ability to stamp his authority on games, but, opts to play a little too safe.
I thought you lot loved Song? At the start of the season a lot of you were saying he was the best at what he does in the PL.
