Giacc and Jones, no time soon. Shame, cos we could really do with that topper little Italian pulling the strings. Sunderland boss Gus Poyet told the Echo: âBilly will still need another three weeks at least. âGiaccherini is still in the boot and will be for a certain amount of weeks. âItâs a bit more flexible than similar injuries. He can do certain things without the boot, but for the rest of the day he needs the boot on.â Ricky Alvarez is the closest of Sunderlandâs injured contingent to returning to the fold, but despite hopes that the on-loan Inter Milan midfielder could be back in training next week, the Argentine international wonât now meet that target. However, American striker Jozy Altidore is available for tomorrowâs encounter against Arsenal after missing last weekendâs rout at Southampton for personal reasons. And Wes Brown is fully fit, with Poyet confirming it was tactical reasons which prompted him to substitute the ex-England international at half-time at St Maryâs. It was a change which backfired, with midfielder Liam Bridcutt enduring a torturous 45 minutes as a makeshift right-back.
"American striker Jozy Altidore is available for tomorrow’s encounter against Arsenal after missing last weekend’s rout at Southampton for personal reasons" What do you make of that?
Hopefully the useless ****er was in America, trying to get a deal with DC United, or the local McDonalds french fry team.
We really are fooked on the injury front. Giacc is a massive loss I am convinced once fit he will be awesome for us.
Something that was totally ignored last week ....... if Chelsea have a player with a tickly cough it's declared a ****ing disaster.
Every one knew it including Congerton. 6 defenders, two of which are Jones and Brown. Epic **** up in the transfer market.
I was chatting to you about that prior to the window shutting mate, said you looked a bit thin and wondered who you had in the u21's to come through. To be fair to Wes Brown he's been solid for over a year now fitness-wise, I didn't see that coming.
Wes has done well. But he is a problem all the same. He's well and truly in the Paul McGrath/Ledley King category now. Weather it be training pitch or full match, if he feels the slightest twinge it's down tools(confirmed by Poyet). He's Russian roulette now, a bad injury can hit at any point. Not to expect it or not being prepared for it is stupidity of the highest order.
No disrespect but did Poyet dither too much in the transfer market? He seemed to spend a lot of time chasing you know who, nobody needs to say his name on here for a while!
Well that just proves even those who aren't injury prone will get injured to. I'm scared to death PVA gets hurt
I'm certain the Borini deal was off well before deadline day, it was just the media spinning their drama. I'm certain the Borini money was spent on Rodwell which was why we withdrew our offer and replaced it with a loan offer, which we later withdrew to get Coates who's now crocked. Rodwell was the first player we've paid for out of our own revenue since Short bought the club. I think we were restricted by a budget. Congerton had to juggle it with Poyet's wishes and this is what we got. Wish Short had balls and give us an extra 15-20 million this summer but hopefully there's some money in January.
The squad is looking pretty fragile right now and I just hope that we have plans to strengthen in January.
On the injury front i think thousands of broken hearts will be fixed today,i predict a win as the perfect cure, the same players will be stronger because of last weeks result, anything which does not kill you makes you stronger. 2-0 or 2-1
