I don't know why the club don't do these things more often...... Andy Dawson (Retinaculum, Knee) "Andy is doing great. He's been to see a specialist in Leicester and he had a couple of injections into the knee. He's progressing really well and his knee is becoming more stable. He's pushing on in the gym and hopefully we can get him back into training in late October or early November. "He'll have a couple of weeks of non-contact training to do and then we'll push him into full contact training before probably getting a reserve team game out of him before he gets back into first team action." Paul McKenna (Swelling in his Calf) "It's an unusual one with 'Macca'. He took a whack at some point during the Bristol City game, but he managed to get through what was left of that one. Afterwards he had some swelling into his calf but it's not something that we're too concerned about at the moment. Hopefully he will be back in training next week for the Brighton game." Tom Cairney (Hamstring) "Tom's got a mild hamstring injury and again, it's not one that we're too concerned about. He's unfortunately been withdrawn from the Scotland squad for obvious reasons, but he's one we're looking to have back for the Brighton game." Adriano Basso (Patellar Tendon) "He's doing okay. He had an inflammation of his patellar tendon and he was finding it difficult to stand on that leg when he was kicking a ball. But he's looking well and will be in contention for Brighton." Cameron Stewart (Knee Ligament Damage) "Cameron's back in non-contact training every day and he's currently halfway through a two-week stint of that. Hopefully a week-on-Monday he'll go back into full-contact training for a couple of weeks before we'll reassess him and hopefully get a reserve team game under his belt." Seyi Olofinjana (Knee) "Seyi's had some great feedback from his scans last week. He's done a week of straight line running and he's now on to some rotational work with some twisting and turning. Next week he'll be doing more football specific work and he'll be taking part in some non-contact training pretty soon." Richard Garcia (Cruciate Ligament) "Richard's coming along fantastically well and he's lucky enough to be away this week. He didn't get a summer break this year due to his injury and the date of his operation, but because he has worked so hard and because of the fact that he is way ahead of schedule we thought this was the perfect time to give him a break. "He'll be back in on Monday to push on and continue the outdoor work he has been doing with the physios." Jamie Devitt (Hip Flexor Strain - currently on loan with Bradford) "Jamie has been back with us for just over a week now. He's got a hip flexor strain but he's doing well. He pulled out of Bradford's game last weekend, but we're hoping to get him back there for Thursday so he can train there and hopefully have some involvement in their game on Saturday." Mark Cullen (Hamstring Strain - currently on loan with Bury) "Mark's injury is a hamstring strain. We're hoping that he'll be back in action in mid-November, but at the moment it's a case of seeing how he reacts to the work he is doing in the gym."
It's all the information Burnsy could have hoped for! What I wonder is, even if TC and McKenna are able to go against Brighton, will we want them back in the team? We seemed to attack a bit more effectively with two legitimate wingers and Koren is more engaged when he plays in the middle. Should they come right back into the team if they're healthy?
I think so. McKenna was a big miss at Donny while Cairney didn't do anything wrong before his injury so I'd bring them back. Good news about Cameron Stewart, just hope people don't expect too much of him. He'll take weeks to get back to normal and it's not impossible that he'll never reach the same level again. Olofinjana being back in the frame would be interesting, I wonder whether NP fancies using him.
Last week saw our best performance of the season to date, I wouldn't change anything, unless forced to do so. Be interesting to see what happens when Oli is available.
My god Theo are you a convert to the TC appreciation society now?? Koren back to left midfield for me, but allowed to cut in whenever he wants. TC and Mckenna back in the middle. Evans didnt do enough for me. Pusic will be pushing hard once he gets fully match fit, and he wont play against a top RB like that every week.
I never disliked him. I just called what I saw. Still think he can improve a ton but he's been way better this season than last.
I agree, not 21 until January either. I hope he is on a long term deal? OLM? Same goalie same back four Brady, Mckenna TC Koren Fryatt and Waghorn
I think we need to stick with the same side as against Cardiff. Koren was a class apart on Saturday. I'm afraid Tom may have to wait for an opportunity.
My thoughts too John The club will want him off the wage bill, but I like Oli, he's brilliant Championship player but I've said for a while that once his back to full fitness he'll be off.
if all fit then for me same team. if it aint broke dont fix it. the cardiff team deserve another chance but i would put mckenna and cairney on the bench instead of mcshane and harper.
So is this the thing that our miserable, arrogant, ignorant, twat of a manager was alluding to in his post-match 'blast' of David Burns?** It's good info if it is and far better than the fumbling of our local radio station. **(I'm being ironic by the way)
We can't really judge on Oli. We haven't seen a lot of him. But on the thoughts of Cardiff fans last year, he was the player the brought balance to the game. The modern game is becoming a back 6 defending, and letting the front 5 do there thing!
I would like to see Oli utilised if we cannot get rid of him but I honestly think we will definitely try and get him off the wage bill. If not permanently, definitely till the end of the season
