Hull City injury update - captain Michael Dawson's return date confirmed please log in to view this image Hull City say captain Michael Dawson is four weeks away from making his Tigers comeback. Suffering a medial ligament injury during pre-season, Dawson was devastated as City prepared for life back in the Premier League, but with two wins from three, the Tigers have coped well in his absence. Dawson has started outdoor running at the club's Cottingham-based training ground this week, but is still 'four-to-five weeks away' from returning, according to City's Head of Medical Services Rob Price. The medical staff provided updates on Allan McGregor, Moses Odubajo, Alex Bruce, Brian Lenihan and Greg Luer. "Allan is now six-and-a-half weeks on from the surgery he had on his back injury. He was in London on Tuesday this week to see the consultant and he is pleased with the progress Allan is making. At the moment, it's a matter of increasing his load slowly because we expect this to be a four or five month rehabilitation in total," said Price. please log in to view this image "Moses is four-and-a-half weeks post-surgery for his patella dislocation and his medial patella femoral ligament reconstruction. He saw the consultant on Tuesday and has been taken out of his brace. He'll be inside on a strength-based programme for the next month before increasing his functional work outside. It will then likely be a couple of months from there before a return to full training. "It's now seven weeks since Alex had surgery for an Achilles tendon reconstruction and he's now walking at 75 per cent of body weight. We're hoping that he'll be walking fully weight-bearing within the next week and then we can progress his rehab. We're looking at late November/early December for his return. "Brian has been out running with Michael Dawson this week. He had surgery on his knee four months ago following the under-21s' cup final against West Ham, and he is now a couple of weeks away from a return to training which is in line with the time frame initially set. "Greg tore the meniscus in the EFL Cup win at Exeter and had surgery on Wednesday. We're looking at a 12-week rehab for him." http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/hull...tory-29679327-detail/story.html#ixzz4J6FunEfR
So Dave will be back to full training at the beginning of December, so could be ready to play in January I guess.
Be great to have Dave back in the New Year. He deserves his chance to have a crack at the Premier League.
Pretty insightful injury updates. Glad the club seem to be thorough in ensuring that players are not rushed back too early.
Brian Lenihan has been with us for two whole years!!!!!!........................and has made just one single appearance with the senior squad.
What about the ACON for Odubajo? He's now representing Nigeria, will he be suddenly whisked away if he's fit enough?
I thought Dave had every chance of being our first ever England international (whilst playing for us) as it seems that Curtis could repel all-comers single-handed and still not get a call. When did he switch to Nigeria?
I don't know if he actually switched, there was a report that said that both him and Akpom had shown an interest in being called up, but until they actually make a competitive appearance they are both eligible for England. The article came out around the time were wobbling, maybe they thought we wouldn't go up and therefore an England cap would be harder to come by.
You get the feeling Luer has missed the boat a bit. I'd like to be proved wrong, but unfortunately none of his loans have clicked. I'd imagine he'll be definitely going out somewhere in January.
This injury couldn't have come at worse time for him, it's significantly increased the chances of him being released at the end of this season.
Injury Update: Encouraging News For Odubajo As Injured Players Continue To Progress please log in to view this image Our regular catch-up with the Club’s Head of Medical Services, Rob Price, brought some encouraging updates earlier today. Here’s all the latest on the players currently in the treatment room: Michael Dawson (Medial Collateral Ligament) Although Michael missed a lot of last week with a virus, the plan remains for him to start training with the rest of the team next week and then hopefully, with some sessions under his belt, he’ll be available from the Bournemouth game after the international break onwards. He’s done really well in his recovery from this injury. Moses Odubajo (Patella Dislocation & Medial Patella Femoral Ligament Reconstruction) Moses (pictured) has had some good news this week following a review with his consultant and he is now able to start his outdoor rehab. He’ll have his first run outside today, but it is still relatively early days. I know it seems like he has already been out for a long time but this is generally a four-month recovery and if we get him back any sooner then we will have done well. However, it is positive news with the start of his outdoor rehab. Allan McGregor (Back) Allan has made some significant progress in the last few weeks and he is now outside doing some drills with goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh. We’re still working on Allan’s strength and mobility and we’re not going to put a time-scale on a return to training, but we’re pleased with how he is progressing. Alex Bruce (Achilles Tendon Reconstruction) It’s going to be December before Alex is back, but he is running on the AlterG treadmill at 85% of his body weight which is a good progression for him. He’s also doing some loading work in the gym and some shock absorption through his calf and achilles, so he is progressing nicely but we’re still a long time away from seeing Alex back on the pitch. Greg Luer (Knee/Meniscus) Greg is still recovering from surgery and is doing some pool work and some strength work at the moment. It's likely to be Christmas before we see him back in action. Brian Lenihan (Knee) Brian has responded well to an injection in his knee and is completing his outdoor rehab. We hope to see him back in training in the next couple of weeks. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/...-to-progress-3334634.aspx#KmKFQL1XH1Vhyp3W.99
