Doubt my daddy did as he died!

Think it is you who didn't have the love and support of people around you hence why you are so miserable and take pleasure in trying to fool people, being negative and an all round fool.

Sorry you're not miserable you are right and that is positve <doh>

When are you going to get bored of this act? You do all this for attention we admittedly give you what you want, and then you slump back to another post. It's not really funny, or witty or anything like, I don't even find it annoying tbf.

    It's just a little weird.

Stop ganging up on Mr T. If you'd had the SKY Dish situ he had a few years back, you'd be a little erratic too. He has been more right than the happy clappers over the last few years too. There were people trying to convince us on here last summer that we had a top 8 squad! A bit of balance is needed. We were **** then, we have begun the process of investing to improve. If it continues (3 or 4 more like this latest one), then even Mr T will come round. As it stands we will still be battling relegation or just above.

We had a sqquad capable on their day of being top 8 - just a pity the coaching set up was League 2 standard

First half of last season we where battling for the top 8 pretty convincingly until Carver got his meat pie grease covered hands on the squad.

It was Pardew that had them top 8

The key mistake you are both making is that you think half a season shows the quality of your SQUAD. That simply shows you what you have before the season takes its toll and you have to start using your SQUAD. If you both think we have a top 8 squad last season, you need to seek professional help.

Colo, Saylor, Willo - That was your centre back options. I rest my case. <laugh>

I said capable on their day of being top 8. This is in comparison to other teams in the league! As it was we flirted with relegation and imho this was down to the coaching set up!

What is the point in talking on their day though? At least 10-11 had better squads? Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Man C, Liverpool, Southampton, Swansea, Everton, West Ham, Stoke all had squads far better equipped than ours. That isn't being Mr T negative - just cold hard reality. Granted our best side could give many of those a game, its not played with 11 though over 38 games. So the point remains, there were people on here saying top 8 was realistic. Unless you believe that you will pick up no injuries as realistic, that was crazy talk.

So you are saying 10/11 squads were better so that means 12th for us - so 8th isn't exactly miles off!

If the coaching set up was right, playing players in proper positions, having more than one tactic available, not persisting with failing manouvers and so on then the squad capable of being a top 8 team on their day should have finished higher than 12th. Also, I disagree with Swansea, Stoke and West Ham!

Reckon this will be one of those areas we will continue to disagree on - Our defensive player were far worse individually when we came 5th!

I said "at least" 10-11 squads. There is an argument to be had on 2 or 3 others. Do you go numbers or a smaller pool but with greater quality? Do you you go talent or players more familiar and better equipped to deal with the league? I'm saying there is no argument at all on 11. 8th place was 9 points clear of 12th, so yes its a pretty big gap. We were 17 points behind 8th. Even the most critical fans of Carver cannot possibly think if you just dropped McClaren and his staff in, they make up 17 points. That is just silly. McClaren like any other manager needs the players. He had one of the best squads in the championship remember, and he couldn't get it done. That is not a criticism, its just a stark reminder how important the players are.

I don't think I've said I'm right anywhere. I just disagree which is allowed and believe you are not being realistic or giving others squads enough respect. West Ham may have a poor coaching set up but they had depth way beyond what we had. The first place I look is the defence, because you need a solid base.

Stoke - Shawcross, Wollscheid, Pieters, Cameron, Muniesa, Bardsley, Wilson. You then had N'Zonzi providing protection. They could match us in attack too. Yeah our midfield probably had more talent but we couldn't keep it fit most of the time. Physically they have players able to deal with the league and steer well clear of relegation.

West Ham - Reid, Tomkins, Collins, Cresswell, Kouyate, Jenkinson, O'Brien - again you get that good solid mix. They were also better in attack with Safro, Valencia, Carroll, Maiga, Zarate. Again midfield I think we match up ok if not better.

Swansea - Very well coached obviously but you also have Williams, Taylor, Flores, Fernandez, Amat, Rangel, Bartley, Tiendalli - an underrated set of of defensive options. Certainly superior to ours. They had a really solid midfield too with Sigurdsson, Ki, Shelvey, Britton, Cork, Dyer, Routledge, Montero. Then they had a good few attacking options with Bony, Emmnes, Gomis

All these clubs are adding quality again this year. I think we have a habit of only looking at we have and think yeah top 8. There are other teams and they have deeper squads. Often we might have a better best xi. Over a season though the deeper squad sees you through better in my humble opinion. We underrate other clubs players too. Players like Reid, Shawcross, Collins, Pieters, Muniesa, Williams, Fernandez are really good defenders. They have good pedigree and they perform 7/10 nearly every game they play minimum. They have bought physically capable players to like Ki, Shelvey, Sigurdsson, Kouyate, Downing, N'Zonzi, Arnautovic, Adam, Moses etc are made for the league. Even if you think our players have more talent, I just think these guys help balance your side.

The one of season of 5th can't be held up as the norm. Pards did an incredible job that season and we had a bit of perfect storm. Players were peak too, with Colo at his best, Raylor still useful, Simpson performing above his level, Saylor solid, Willo better. Santon fit, Tiote in form, Cabaye at his best, HBA trying an not fat, Demba Ba, Cisse at his best, Krul on fire. Not only did we have deeper options, we had better players. We had a few secondary options who were solid too like Perch. In raising that team I believe it actually strengthens my case to be honest. It highlights where we went wrong - we failed to invest and improve. We got worse and had even less depth. Unless of course you believe Willo, Colo, Saylor, Raylor got better in the 4 years?! You had three or four options at full back who were capable at the level and not injured much. Simpson was not great but he could defend. Raylor played much better than given credit for, his and Simpson blocks in that 11 game unbeaten run just written off by some fans. We soon found what happens when you don't have those players putting their body on the line. Demba Ba was ridiculous too, we never replaced him. 3 years, no replacement.

I don't believe we have a top 8 quality squad, I believe we have a squad capable of doing a lot better than Pardew had us in the last two seasons. (He didn't have us 10th he had us 12th) I think a lot of people who are anti-Pardew have conceded a lot of points for you, but I haven't seen you do the same back. I don't think he was as ****e as others make out, but he certainly wasn't as good as you're making out. Do you genuinely believe that Pardew was a fantastic manager but it was just everything else at the club holding him back?

Useless training sessions, poor manager - fans communication, terrible derby days, signings which got WORSE as they stayed with us, constant discipline problems, embarrassing interviews, hiring John Carver and stating "This man is a geordie, he knows so much about the club, it's a turning point." when the guy was a useless coach & while he was at the club we saw a great downturn. The guy was a prick, and a mediocre manager. The constant white knighting in every post is getting tiresome, but to be fair, the constant bitching about the bloke in every post is even worse.

EDIT: Completely forgot about the cup runs, jesus.
