    Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fitness update

Liverpool will assess the muscle issue Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain felt during his 40-minute appearance for the U23s on Friday afternoon.

The midfielder made his comeback from a long-term knee injury in the 3-1 victory for Neil Critchley’s side at Derby County.

Having started the Premier League 2 encounter, Oxlade-Chamberlain was taken off five minutes before half-time as a precautionary measure.

“He obviously had a bit of an issue but hopefully it’s nothing major,” said Critchley. “The bonus for him is that it’s not his knee, so he’s delighted there are no problems with that.

“He was enjoying himself, he was happy to be back playing. Hopefully when he wakes up in the morning, fingers crossed it’s nothing and only a precaution.

“Thhttps://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/340949-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-fitness-updatee idea was only ever to play him for 45 minutes at most anyway. He nearly got that, as well.

“Hopefully it’s not as bad as it first looked. He was looking over [to the bench] and we weren’t sure. It’s maybe some kind of muscle problem and maybe one to assess tomorrow.

“What was good is that he was sensible. He came off quite quick. He has handled that situation quite well.”

Klopp provides update on Oxlade-Chamberlain fitness
Jürgen Klopp has provided an update on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's ongoing recovery after the Liverpool midfielder played 40 minutes for the U23s on Friday.

Oxlade-Chamberlain featured in match action for the first time since sustaining knee ligament damage last April, as the young Reds faced Derby County.

The England international was taken off five minutes before his expected half-time withdrawal as a precaution – but Klopp has confirmed the patient approach to his comeback remains on course.
“It’s not really surprising, it’s normal. The good news is the knee is perfect – nothing happened, that was our only concern,” the manager told Liverpoolfc.com on Monday.

“Football games are different to football training, that’s why he felt the muscle a little bit, and thank God we were smart enough to take him off, even if it was only five minutes earlier than we thought [before the game]. That made absolute sense. Nothing else happened.

“We always said he needs time. Maybe I’m a bit guilty for being too excited about it; if nobody asked me I wouldn’t start talking about Ox, to be honest, but they ask me and I say the truth – and the truth was it looked so exciting in training. But it’s only small-sided games, shooting situations and all that.

“It’s Ox, we all know and love him, that’s cool, but, at the end of the day, we all need to make sure we are ready for the big-size pitch. And for this he just needs time. It’s all good.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in contention to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday night after sustaining a minor injury in the weekend win over Burnley.

The right-back was substituted four minutes from the end of the clash with the Clarets but trained on Tuesday morning and has travelled with the 21-man Reds squad to Germany for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com on Monday, Jürgen Klopp said of Alexander-Arnold’s fitness: “It looks good. He had a bit of a problem obviously but it should not be a major concern.

“We cannot judge the situation now, we have to wait this full day, tomorrow possibly the full day – we have two days and then we have a little, little session on Wednesday morning.

“If we know then, it’s good and then we’ll choose the team and play.”

Klopp also confirmed Liverpool will have to monitor the conditions of Dejan Lovren and James Milner – who made the journey to Munich on Tuesday – ahead of the match.

LFC injury latest: Henderson, Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain

Jordan Henderson is out of Liverpool's game against Fulham due to the ankle injury he sustained in midweek.
The Reds' captain was withdrawn in the early stages of Wednesday's 3-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League - and Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that he is unavailable for the visit to Craven Cottage on Sunday.
However, Klopp is hopeful that Henderson will be fit after the international break, along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Naby Keita missed the last-16 victory at the Allianz Arena due to a minor injury and the No.8 will be assessed ahead of the trip to London.
"With Hendo, we made further assessment and we know now that it’s serious enough probably to rule him out for the weekend and the international break will be long enough hopefully to bring him back. It’s a little one with the ankle, how it looked in the first place. It was the best scan we could get, I would say, but still not good enough. It’s not good but OK," the boss said on Friday.
"Naby, we have to see if he can train today. The boys come in a bit later today. [He had] a couple of checks - it was positive until now but we have to see if it stays positive when he goes outside

TAA not fit in time for England game. Still having back issues.

Hopefully back for Liverpool's next game. Missing England might be a blessing for us.

Klopp's update on Alexander-Arnold and Shaqiri fitness latest

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Xherdan Shaqiri have resumed full team training after recovering from injuries.

The duo were forced to withdraw from their respective national team squads with England and Switzerland due to fitness issues.

Earlier this week, Jürgen Klopp confirmed to Liverpoolfc.com Alexander-Arnold and Shaqiri were still undergoing rehabilitation work at Melwood.

However, the manager revealed during his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference on Friday afternoon the pair were again training with their teammates, along with Joe Gomez.

Klopp said: “Yesterday they were all in training, for all three pretty much the first full session, so we have to see how they react.

“There was actually no alternative for Shaq and Trent, not being involved in the games in that period. Anything else would have been really crazy because they needed that, they needed treatment, needed rehab and all that stuff.

“Joe was back yesterday after 15 weeks, what a long time, but yesterday it looked really good. Of course, it’s early stages and he is really now adapting again to proper football training after having thousands of rehab sessions.

“They should all be OK, I heard nothing different this morning since I’ve been here, so they should be OK. They will train again today and then we will see.”

Keita 'ruled out' for the rest of the season
Liverpool will be without the services of Naby Keita for the rest of the season reports Foot 244.
The midfielder limped off during the first half with an apparent groin injury in the Reds’ 3-0 defeat to Barcelona.

And reports suggest he’s suffered a small adductor tear and could now be out of action for a month
