I thought I'd start this thread to discuss our ongoing injury issues, as there does not seem to be anywhere relevant to have updates on them. Also noticed this is the 5,000th thread on the Arsenal board. Well done Magic Man, Cym will provide you with some sort of prize.
Figured as much.. well, it's good to have a place to discuss injuries as I never know where to post about that and other random Arsenal news.
Good thread. I'll have a word with minxy about making you a supermod Magic man, but only as long as you agree to your first task being to take the spurs mods to the cleaners
Your ban on the Spurs board is about 10x more justified than the worst ban in our board. Can't even think of a single instance that comes close really.
What do people think about Diaby's chances of ever getting back in the first team ? His injuries came at a bad time for him this time around, with Arteta and now Flamini ahead of him in the centre. On his day a brilliant player and such a shame that he's been ravaged by injury, he's twenty seven now and time is running out. If he ever gets back to full fitness, should he stay and fight for a place or should we move him on so that he can at least have two or three years playing regular football ? Maybe he'll turn out to be another RVP and blossom late ?
Hard to say. For his age, he has had so little experience on the pitch because of his horrendous injury record so he hasn't had the game time needed to improve and mature. With experience comes consistency and I suspect he would not be as consistent as Arteta or Flamini if he had a sustained run in the team, at least not for a while. He is a very talented player, however, and would be valuable if he was available for selection on a regular basis.
Although I think we should cut our losses and get another midfielder who actually plays, but if he does manage a RVP/Rosicky type comeback, then he would be first choice for Wenger, and I understand why. He is one of those types that on his day, is unplayable. I genuinely believe that had he not been plagued with injuries, he would have been up their with some of the best in the league. He gives us something the other midfielders don't, that power and drive that enables him to go through a bunch of players with some dazzling skill. The problem is, will he fullfill his potential and become the player we want him to be?
