Don’t worry Mike we have strength in depth.....

Shelvey will face a retrospective ban too so will miss games.

    A new low.

I’m sure he will. The media will ensure it.

Think I might need to send the FA a strongly worded email to make sure of it!

I hate the sight of them on our team sheet. It’s like playing with 9 men.

Thought Hayden played well have I missed sumat?
Think Fatty's going to have to spend, he normally does in these situations. The problem is he's already gone down the smoke and mirrors window route.
Fatty spending will be full confession we were never close to being sold, as most knew. Even SkySports finest can't put good spin on that.

Hayden and Diame did well together until Diame had to go off. Poor from him for the second goal though.

Our players give the ball away most of the game. I also saw Shelvey literally walk back until the ball was way out of reach, at which point he started to run. He played against Man U, shouldn't be judged on one pass

I'm talking about the general media rhetoric though. This isn't purely exclusive to SkySports. Even some of the Toon haters have been sympathising lately.

My example was just an example. He ran the ball out of play unchallenged is another example. He did loads wrong but to be fair he did play one good pass in the 98 minutes of the game.

Again he walked out one ball against Man U. Ritchie, Kenedy, Shelvey, Murphy, Atsu, Diame do this consistently too. I saw him make adequate passes and defend well. Pogba is on fire ATM and didn't look that good. Even then Herrera or Mata didn't exactly shine in his place.

I'm not saying he was amazing but was surprisingly staunch against a big team on a good run of form, especially when he's seen little of the pitch the last season or so.

I’m afraid we”ll just have to agree to disagree. For me he was weak, ineffective, invisible and lacking in effort. Princess Pogba spent most of the game on the left and not the middle so Hayden really didn’t have too much effect on PP’s game.

    Hayden???

I think you need to read the matchday thread and my completely unbiased reporting <laugh>

He did a fat lad jog around the pitch, side to side, and was massively ineffective at cutting out passes. Diame was much better. Hayden also ****ed up a chance in the box, caused the second goal by just generally not being a footballer.

    Sounds offensive :emoticon-0110-tongu
Hayden was no worse than a lot of players, remember Diane hitting a pass into the corner for nobody, Yedlin constantly being caught upfield, Ritchie labouring to, well, just labour, Rondon's obsession with trying to stamp on the ball when trapping etc.

He's no worse than what is playing, seems unfair to single him out when he's had the least game time.

Yedlin was a wing back not a full back so chances were as a winger he would be further upfrield than normal.

Thought we played well last night but the gulf in quality was huge. I guess that's what you get when one of their defenders costs more than our entire team! Atsu worked hard but really lacks the composure - a better player scores at least one of those chances. Kenedy looked decent when he came on and links up well with Shelvey. If we bring some players in we'll be fine. If not, it'll be a long and tough season.

    You have missed summat.

Remember his silky skills in the first half when he did a few step overs and a neat dribble.....shame he walked the ball off the pitch in the process.
And the inept clown costing us the game by losing it for the second goal.
And just generally being an oaf.

But yeah these ain't long term injuries.

Just play the kids against Blackburn and get out of the FA Cup asap, give the first team a rest until the Chelsea game then get back on it.

Hayden out, Shelvey back in, and keep Muto and Kennedy well away from the pitch at all times.
