These figures don't consider whether the injuries are to a star player or one in the squad to make up the numbers so would seem fairly irrelevant to performance. eg Man City least injuries and won the league, Man utd bottom with injuries and came second.
looks like the 'toon were lucky with injuries' reason is f*d too, though, I didn't think we'd faired as badly as that, but we did have a few long term injuries
I'd love to know what they class as a significant injury - this could be anyone in the 25 (+youngsters) squad - i.e. we had Ryan Noble injured at the start of the season for about 4 weeks - does that count?? - other than Steven Taylor I can't think of one? As has been said - if Michael Owen is included then the table is absolute bollocjs and has no bearing at all - if you show me a table where you can say 8 injuries of players who would've definitely played then that's different - looks like another load of bollocks IMO
It states two weeks or more for an injury, and I would think that injuries would be amongst the playing squad. As for us, we had Steven Taylor, out for a good six months, then also Williamson who was out for four, meaning we ended up playing some games around December with three first choice central defenders out (Colo was also injured at this time). We also had Marveaux, who was a new signing and was basically out for the season. Whether or not he would have been a first team regular is anyone's guess, but he would certainly have featured. There were others too, Tiote was out quite a bit with two or three weeks at a time, Raylor may have been too
