Gutted about Beattie. I wonder how long he has had that for....

Or did anyone watch the channel 4 programme the other day about drugs in football? Swansea missed a number of drugs tests last year. 15 to be exact - the most in the championship.
Players and clubs hide the fact that their players have failed drugs tests by saying they are out injured.
Isn't it a bit odd Beattie hasn't even been on the bench at all this season.
I think it is a real possibility he has failed a drugs test

Here we are. Just read this in the post:

    Swans deny drugs slur

CLAIMS about abandoned drug tests involving Swansea City Football Club on TV documentary Dispatches were "misleading", the club have said.

The Channel 4 programme alleged there were 15 abandoned drug tests at Swansea City between April 2007 and August 2010, among 240 in the English game during that period.

According to Dispatches, Swansea had the most in the Championship and Premier League, although they were in fact in League One during 2007/8.

A club spokesman said: "This figure is, in fact, misleading as it relates to just four missed tests dating back to 2008 and 2009 where 15 players were due to be tested in total.

"This is down to a previous lack of communication between the club and the FA, which has since been rectified, plus unforeseen circumstances."

He said the missed tests were due to the club, who do not have their own training ground, rearranging training sessions at short notice due to freezing conditions or calling them off due to a hectic fixture list.

"Up until 2009, the FA has not always been notified of all these late changes which, in turn, have led to some tests being cancelled on the arrival of Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency) at the training ground," the Swans spokesman added.

"However, the club introduced new procedures some time ago which have reduced the chances of tests being abandoned in the future."

In 2005, the Swans sacked Ijah Anderson after he tested positive for cocaine.

In Monday's Dispatches, ex-Swans striker Leon Knight, who has played at many clubs, alleged cocaine had become "strongly involved in football".

I very much doubt, given the current regime, that there is ANY drug use at SCFC. I believe it wouldn't be tolerated, and anyone known to have been using substances would be chucked out, similar to Ijah Anderson in 2005. Under Jackett when we had McLeod, Trundle, Robinson and all the boys wrecked on Wind St every night, possibly, but now? No chance.

Beattie is, sadly, simply really injury prone it seems.

Also, Leon Knight can't be trusted as far as you can throw him! Why is it as soon as someone is on a documentary their word is gospel?

I think it is a real possibility he has failed a drugs test ? C'mon Rhys.. I would expect this kind of comment from JH an co, but not from one of our own. .

Your second posts states - In 2005, the Swans sacked Ijah Anderson after he tested positive for cocaine. Now why would the club protect a player that is not even close to a regular start if its a case of failed drug test. He would (as Anderson was) be shown the door!!

Also - In the 2002-03 season, Rushden & Diamonds goalkeeper Billy Turley was banned for 6 months for testing positive for cocaine. Adrian Mutu was banned after he tested positive for cocaine in the 2003-2004 season. He was banned for 7 months and was subsequently sacked by Chelsea.

Beattie is out for 2 months.. Which is about the time needed to recover from such a reported injury.

Its bad enough that the injured players will be on the side lines for such a long time, without finger pointing that they're getting a 'buzz' from anything other than playing football in the premier league.

I understand your concern as I would be horrified to find out about any (current) Swans players banned for mixing with illegal substances, but on the other hand its not clever to suggest such a thing on the back of a TV documentary with no evidence to support your 'real possibility' claim.

Huge assumption, Rhys, and not backed up by evidence. If this is a problem then it's up to the Club to deal with it.

Incase your reading this Brendan, regarding your injury crisis and requirement for a defensive/holding midfielder.

I own Swansea home and away shirts, I am 5 ft 9" so tower above your other midfield options plus I am technically a free agent (I just need to give work some notice)..... I have dreamed of this happening all my life....c'mon BR give me a go!

My first post was said without the knowledge of the SWEP article.
I'm guessing none of you had watched the programme on channel 4. There was actually evidence that some clubs cover up that their players had failed drugs test.
I think the Fella was Garry O'Conner - Birmingham/Barnsley? Alex Mcleish was even in the press saying he was injured!

My thoughts with 'The Beattie Situation' is that it has been very odd he has been nowhere near the first team this season, even though he seemed to have had a great Pre-season, and playing well for the reserves. Then When you look at our bench and Moore is playing!
It may be well far of the truth, but it does seem there is more going on behind the scenes.

Also Leon Knight is a fool! He came across as if he was as good as gold on this programme, almost bitching about how other players from previous clubs would run from the training ground when they heared about drug testers coming.

There is no way there is drug abuse at our club, it's a ridiculous thing to speculate that the club would cover that kind of thing up, the injuries are genuine ones ! Also in this day and age any failed drugs tests would be made public after all appeals etc has been done, name and shame would be the order of the day.

I've heard a rumour from a mate that Caulker is now injured. I have no idea if this is true and was just wondering if anyone else had got wind of this ?

It's at times like this you realise the extra benefits you have in the Championship/lower leagues with the emergency loan system, no limit on loanees and the pass downs from the Prem we can no longer have when the squads are announced.

Stop whinging, we move on and conquer! Lets not forget..... this is what we wanted and we can only learn from this.

Can't say I've heard that one big_apple, hope it's not true, though I'm sure Jazz Richards could cover short term, can't be much of an injury, as he walked off fine after the last game, there's always Bessone!!.................
