On the OS, CP says that Jackson, Stephens and Alonso are working their way back to fitness. A pleasant surprise he includes Alonso as I would have expected a deafening silence there. Perhaps we will actually see something more of the guy this season. But does anyone know what has been wrong with him for so long? It has never been explained on the OS. He was fit enough to perform all match against Preston (if you could call his contribution performing) then just disappeared, then played some reserve games in which the team did well (though no info on his contribution), then disappeared again. What has been going on? Any inside info? The other surprise is CP is talking about Jackson returning immediately after New Year. Even January 2nd is not ruled out. I didn't expect to see him until February at the earliest. For Stephens he doesn't give a lead-time, so maybe Feb or March? Maybe they will make sure he stays "injured" until the Jan transfer window closes?
As we're on the subject of injuries, I defy you not to wince while you're reading this... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...epare-for-battle-of-basement-with-Bolton.html
Ouch! Don't know whether to laugh or declare my sympathy for him, all I know is I'd hate to be in his position!
One of my former work colleagues sustained this injury during a fall in a mountain bike race. He was in hospital for a week, on crutches for six weeks and hors de combat in the sack for two months. Very nasty. I was once hit twice in the 'nads in the same innings playing cricket on the Saturday and was still struggling on the Wednesday, so goodness knows what this is like.
Just when you thought injuries couldn't get any worse, this happens... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16338426.stm Ye gods - very nasty. That quote from Hessenthaler must go into the top ten for the year.
