Does anyone know if he’s fit? If Sonko doesn’t make it on Saturday I would much rather he played next to Colins than Delaney, unless it’s a left sided/ right sided thing.

I would rather my grandad was at CB than Delaney and he has been dead 31 years!

Hey Tractor I thought Delaney did alright last night! Yes we need Sonko back fit asap but Delaney can do a job for us so long as Collins is directing things.

Delaney done ok last night but Portsmouth hardly looked an attacking threat did they?
I know he has the ability to block and get in the way but he seems to have little intelligence and I just dont trust him to make the right decisions

Not gonna lie I get anxious even when Delaney is on the bench, the fact that he might possibly come on terrifies me. I cannot think of a worse defender, yes he has decent physical attributes, can head the ball and is a decent blocker. But in terms of reading the game, he is awful, he gets to tight to the player when he doesn't need to. I have never seen a defender get pulled out of position as easily as he does. The amount of times I've seen him play and when the opposition are attacking thought why do we have only 3 defenders on the pitch and then realise Delaneys halfway up the pitch because he had been pulled so far out of position. And he's terrible on the ball, it used to worry me when Naylor was on the ball slightly more but at least he could defend, he was a good defender when he didnt have the ball, if you get me.

Delaney just shouldn't be a footballer.

Harsh words. Give him a chance to rebuild his confidence and with a strong communicator next to him he'll be fine <ok>

    " I cannot think of a worse defender "

Not heard of Balkenstein, Tommy Smith, Drissa Diallo, Mark Fish in his brief spell with us to name but few !?

Ridiculous comments regarding Delaney. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from a Delaney fan, he has zero distribution skills. However, as has been mentioned with a communicator alongside him it makes a huge difference to his game.

"Give him a chance to rebuild his confidence"

Delaney's never struck me as someone lacking in confidence-can only agree with other comments above about his lack of ability as a footballer and suitabilty to wear a Town shirt.

All of those names Westlake are not great but Balkenstein was young and bound to make mistakes, same with Tommy Smith and Mark Fish I don't think we can really judge him, although I would just like to mention Manuel Thetis. Diallo was not great. Delaney may not look like the worse defender in that its not sometimes overly obvious what he has done wrong unlike some of the names mentioned but I have never seen a defender have such an impact on the whole defence, he just confuses things at the back and gets out of position all the time. He's like Norris just a headless chicken, all heart and desire but know quality and he may not be the worst player but the detremental effect they both had on the team in terms of unbalancing the side and poor positional sense cannot be underestimated. I think both of them made those look around them look worse than they actually were in terms of McAuley and Leadbitter because both had to do the work of 2 players because both were about 30 yards up the pitch from the other.
