I see myself as a middle aged level headed sort of bloke who is not easily swayed by flim flammery and the emotionals stuff of life!... if you asked me three days ago who would you prefer to manage our great club.......Given a choice betwean MON or Hughes i would have chosen Hughes and I would have thought that MON may be the wrong choice due a dislike the mythology that envelopes MON... However within a few hours of hearing that MON has got the job i find a strange stirring a tingle from where i do not know.... I now realise it is hope...that little thing left in pandoras box....... the appointment of MON has shone a searchlight on that little virtue for the first time since Quinny took over (lost when we realised the money was not there) .............Fans can be strange and irrational. at times due to the love of their club but i hope that this particular phenomonen spreads like the ebola virus to the boardroom the players and the fans alike... If it does this will mean that safc for the first time since the early fifties will have a chance to succeed.........its a funny old world but i hope the signing of MON is a start of something great........ ....Before any skunks call us deluded... sucess for me is top six..and if short releases enough of his vast equity for a few good players then that target is not unreasonable in the medium term(to quote harry you need money to compete)............ So come on Short, and everbody connected with this great club lets bring the belief back .......bloody hell this emotional stuff is infectious...lets bannish disapointment to where it belongs ...........north of the tyne!
Great post! I would have been absolutely gutted if we had appointed Hughes because I find him to have a very drab monotone personality. Martin O'Neill is enigmatic. He has that fighting spirit synonymous with the Irish mentality... He has a proven CV, he is very well respected throughout all of the footballing community as evidenced by the numerous articles that have surfaced today. Martin O'Neill is indeed perfect for SAFC.
A choice between Hughes or MON? MON all day for me. It's like the fallacy about him playing boring football. I saw Villa play some sparkling football under him, and he likes his wingers. Has he used the long ball to Heskey? Of course he has, when he felt it was warranted, but lets not forget more times than enough it worked. He is a smart manager who gets the best from what's available to him. AND! He clearly knows tactics and when to change things. Something we have been missing the last few years.
Yes,I feel that the signing of MO'N has got the vast majority of Sunderland fans in a state of great positivity.I can't wait to see us climbing up the league, and getting into the top-ten.A win at Wolves tomorrow will be a starter for ten!!
You saw how negative i was when he signed and i wanted someone else but a few articals and speaking to the villa fans has made me excited
Kind of ****ed yourself there mate, if you don't like him just stick to your guns. Are you saying you can we swayed by what you read on here.
I hope he can because nobody should ever refuse to change their mind on any topic. As more information becomes apparent, people can change their mind.
I almost came in my pants on Wednesday. I've become giddy and giggley ever since. Can't wait to in to the SOL next Sunday and wave like a daft twat to the dugout. I am ****ing higher than a junkie on a years free gear.
Fair play but i think he may have had a slight idea about MON in his last 20 odd years of footy than what he read on here in the last couple of days. According to the telly and papers Steve Bruce is a good manager and has been hard done by, i will make my own mind up and stick to it thanks.
High praise indeed. Jimmy Montgomery says Martin O’Neill’s arrival at the Stadium of Light finally brings a “touch of Clough” to Wearside. The Sunderland great was a team-mate of both men – Clough at Roker Park and, briefly, O’Neill’s at Nottingham Forest, when “Old Big ’Ead” was in his heyday, winning European Cups. And he says that there’s no doubt that the pupil has learned from the master. “I liked Martin’s attitude to the game at Nottingham Forest – he was hard-working and he wanted to succeed – and he took the same qualities into management,” Montgomery told the Football Echo. “I think when you work under someone outstanding in football management, it’s hard not to pick things up. “I think Martin learned a lot from Cloughie and Cloughie learned a lot from Alan Brown when they were both at Sunderland in the 60s.”
i never said i didnt like him i just wanted someone else... ok a lot of different people and i can be swayed by facts, stats and speaking to some fans from outher clubs
You seem on the fence with this appointment Cest'...we are having to read between the lines on your thoughts on MoN. You need to be a bit clearer mate
