Just heard Warnock on SSN talking about Taarabt and can't help but feel a little confused. Last year, Taarabt could behave any way that he chose and Warnock would turn a blind eye. Tho this year Warnock has changed his tune. He really didn't seen bothered if he stays or goes. Am guessing that Taarabt probably feels like a naughty school kid. I for one, hope that he stays. He is and always will be a nightmare for a manager, but when he came on against Sunderland he changed the game. He is a match winner. Plain and simple. And I think it's up to Warnock to manage his good days and bad days. Happy Crimbo!!
Last year in the Champ the quality of the opposition was only average most weeks and the team could afford to carry Adel, especially when he was not playing well. This year the quality of the opposition is far far better and we simply cannot afford to carry Adel on his bad days. If Adel was putting in the hard yards he would have to be the first name on the timesheet every week, but you can't forget his antics in several games already this year when he just did not bother. Everybody knows the chap has talent, he is our best player by a mile, but if he is not prepared to work hard then he does not deserve to be in the team, simple as. If only somebody could get through to that young head of his and get him to work harder he could be world class.
I disagree. The Championship is the best second division in the world and there were some good teams last year. Furthermore, it wasn't just a case of carrying Taarabt. Some of our other players were great and won some matches in their own right. With that said, he's been great lately and I'm hoping and dreaming that he's learned a bit from his past mistakes and will now work for the team. On Wednesday night I had no problems with him being cheeky and taking on players, even when he lost the ball. It's good to see someone having a go!
I think the problem between Adel and NW was that, in both their minds last summer, Adel had as good as clinched the move to PSG. When it didn't come off, Adel threw his toys from the pram, and NW's interest had already moved to new players...
Warnock can help, but the only person that can sort Adel out, is Adel. He seems to be listening to his peers and judging by his good performance against Sunderland, he's putting in the effort again.
I want to see Adel getting another chance but only if he is prepared to put in a decent shift. Our midfield 4 of SWP, Mackie, Barton and Faurlin have not set the world on fire. We are simply not creating or scoring enough. We need a creative player in there and yes Adel is that player, but only if he ups his work rate by at least 50%. We don't have enough quality in our side, especially in our defence to be effictively playing with 10 men if Adel decides he wants to throw a strop. If he is willing to put in the shift (which he has consistently not done) then he has to play every week. PS. take a quick look at Berbatov at Utd. He is a superb player, far far better than Wellbeck, but berb simply does not work hard enough for the team and he frustrates the players and fans. Seem familiar.
Last year Warnock put his arm around Adel and tried to get the best out of him. There were the tantrums, the silliness and the lack of effort at times. This year is different. There seems to be even more crap with Adel going on behind the scenes and I think that Warnock has had enough. He is not going to molly-coddle him more than last year, especially if he is off as soon as he can get out. When Adel came back late after the summer, a bit flabby and no so sharp, the transfer to PSG not going through and with lots of things having been "quoted" in the press Warnock tried to stand by him. He made a point of telling people how hard Adel had been working in training, etc. This seems to have been a bit of a flash in the pan. From what I have heard there are more "problems" behind the scenes than last year. Enough is enough. If he is not responding to Warnock in the right way, then why should he play him?
If there are more probs this year then i'm sorry to say you have to draw the line somewhere. Neil Warnock has proved he could be the perfect manager for Adel, if only AT knew it. Lets not forget Neil has gone the extra mile for Adel on a number of occasions including going all the way to morocco to sign him only for Adel not to show up
Just a tiny, tiny morsel of evidence that maybe, just maybe, Adel is going to work harder: he actually made a header against Sunderland, as he also did against Manure last Sunday. Consecutive matches and as many headers as he put in during the whole of last season!!!
Another way of looking at this is that last year Uncle Neil got slated in some quarters for letting Taarabt get away with doing what he wanted even though he was by far the most talented player in the Championship and he duly won us promotion. This season Warnock has been much harder on him, maybe because he is not the most talented player in the Premier League and we need more from him, and he is getting slated for it. So it is just Warnock that is being inconsistent?
I think most congratulated Warnock for the way he managed the mercurial Moroccan last season getting the best out of him and getting us promoted as a result.
That depends Eamon on who's story you tend to believe ... IMO it was widely thought by all including direct quotes from NW that he was leaving in the summer Adel was on TV saying what ever will be will be and he was either way ... Then NW was off as well and Adel said if NW goes I go The club was sold and a 20 day panic buy occurred whereupon Barton was brought ... NW pretended that he always wanted Barton the truth was no one wanted him The rest is Bartons story and Adel was pushed out .... Things were said in public and Adel got pissed off and we were led to believe that he was sulking I believe that other factors were to blame but don't care as long as we keep him ... New signings or not this lad is QPR
