no there is no mention of the name being a major part of it certain people should maybe think those words over by a true gent of the football world and lets get behind the club from now.
The passion, the feeling of belonging. The pride in your city. That's what our name encapsulates for so many people.
It probably means more to those who are stepping out to see City & not the Premier League. Have you ever seen us play a League game that wasn't in the Premier League? Waiting until your 30's before you took that step out to view the pitch. Who did you & your kids support prior you turning up at the KC to watch the Premier League? Somebody who is in their 30s & only in their second season as a KC Premier League visitor has no right to be smug or arrogant or dismissive of football supporters. "For the first time, I was able to make out some of the words to these chants. Slightly embarrassed about the one with the line about "the greatest football team the world has ever seen" but the rest of the chants seemed good fun." This was probably the most embarrassing post I've ever read on here, you should be ashamed.
If you can read that quote and not see how it applies to the name change, then I'm afraid you've rather missed the point of being a football fan.
OR you aren't even a real fan you are just someone who turns up to watch & sometimes it's the opposition you've turned up for.
"The pride in your city"... Last time I looked, he wasn't renaming us to Melton Tigers. But as I say, it's all academic because the FA won't overturn their decision anyway. So what's the f**ing point of going on about it. And Cheshire Ben, I've been going to the KC for four seasons now. I did have a 10 year break prior to that as my kids were too young to go, and spending time at the weekend with my kids was the priority. You also know that my comment on the chanting was in the context of a light-hearted post about me sitting amongst the east standers at Wembley. You don't have to take every post as literal. I'm pretty sure some of your posts occasionally can be filed under the heading "attempted humour" too.
I can 100% promise you if someone in the past had tried to change their name to Newcastle Magpies then Robson wouldve been more against it than anyone else in the world. So it's a daft point to make really.
What you have to ask yourselves is, name another club that would allow a name change to happen? Burnsy interviewed EHAB and he should have asked the big question " how much does he think changing the name will bring in extra? " AND " hasn't the season pass increase of 30% covered it? " AA & EA only give interviews to yes men who daren't ask the real questions.
He's already been asked how much it would bring in and the answer veered from "I haven't a clue" to "not that much really".
It takes a breath taking level of arrogance to take that quote and insist it refers to our name change, when it clearly doesn't. To then suggest anyone who disagrees isn't a football fan is almost laughable, except it sums up the holier than thou view of a certain small section of our "fans". What next? Quoting from the Bible to reinforce your arguments and righteousness?
It takes breath taking stupidity to not realise that Robson is saying football should be about the fans, not the business.
Hull Tigers is all about marketing the football club in the global market. Sir Bobby Robson says a club isn't about the marketing department. I thought you'd have done far better than that Happy.
