In the pink Meaning In perfect condition, especially of health. So a petition has been set up to replace our pink seats. I guess that's what happens when your stadium isn't surrounded by filthy highrises, clouded in stink fumes and swarms of pigeons that block out the sun. As much as i sympathise and agree with James Smallwood's petition for changing the seats he's full of ****: “I even saw when my nephew was playing as Sunderland on Fifa that the seats are faded on there, so people obviously notice it.” Read more: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/...s-at-stadium-of-light-1-7930490#ixzz49krc9rmu Funny that FIFA hasn't had a crowd algorithm since '97 as far as I'm aware. I've certainly never noticed it since then. But this is besides the point really. The club will be aware of the issue, after all the majority of faded seats are in the east stand - directly opposite the corporate seats in the main stand. if they can't understand or agree that they need replacing themselves we're in trouble. That said, it's hardly a priority is it? i mean, the seats still function and if they had bums on them you wouldn't notice the colour. How do other people feel about this? Embarrassed? Not arsed? I'm more annoyed by it becoming the 'go-to' argument for our petty lower-league rivals than i am the colour itself. We're hardly the only ones to suffer from this and is it really a priority over the playing squad and staff?
As long as they are fit for purpose then it suits me, if they do change them then use a colour that don't fade....simples init.
I think they look awful, so I'm all for getting them replaced. Even Fifa 16 have our stadium laced with the faded seats.
When I'm inside the stadium before the match starts I usually think the pink seats look a bit rubbish but once I've sat down I don't give them a second thought, so not really bothered overall. It does strike me though that there's probably a type of plastic that won't fade like that so if so it'd be worth replacing them at some point. They also clash with the hot pink suits I always wear but that's my problem.
Remember walking down the street and seeing Cortina after Granada after Orion... all red to begin with, but they had faded panels all over, I never understood why. It looked like their owners had been cleaning them with a wire brush.
I worked in plastics processing for 16 years. I dare bet you they're made of polypropylene. It's well known for fading due to sunlight & rain.
On a slightly different pink theme, can anyone remember the Echo sports edition which came out on a Saturday after the match, it was always pink until one year when we were relegated they started printing it in green. I don't suppose there is an after match paper in these days of technology.
there was a pink and a green mate, i think the pink was total futty and the green had bit of local news and adverts in it. used to sell em when i was a kid, going round the estate hollering piinnnkk fooootbaaallll at the top of me voice lol.
building fire engines out of co-polymer polyprop now, you can get dyes that colour the plastics so they don't fade and get UV resistant plastics. Obviously these are the cheapy type of seats.
I see a prime opportunity to totally refresh the look of the stadium. White seats, Red lettering. White seats don't fade and it'd be like a new manor. White seats are also cheaper to produce due to the colour compounds etc Jobs a good un. We should get it done one way or another cos it does look bad, really bad. It is indeed visible on FIFA
just had a quick glance online. Some company was selling them at around £30 per seat. £30 x 48K = £1.44million approx. just for the seats. How much it would cost to fit them is any bodies guess. Not sure if the example that I used were the cheapest you can get or the most expensive mind but hey ho!
I'll take our word mate, was just using car paint bases as a guide. Still, would look fresh white wouldn't it?
Volume production out of the far east would cost 1/5 of that, if that. The biggest cost would be the labour of changing them all.
Perfect time to rebrand your stadium, let's be honest, there's no 'light' it's been pretty dark since it was opened, maybe it's a curse. Time to rebrand, give some sponsor naming rights and get them to pay for your chairs. Guinness Stadium, black seats all round with a few rows of white on the top... oh, maybe not black and white... I'll get me coat.
White would be ok if they they were made from PVC but not polyprop. It stains like **** from the rain.
