According to today's Mirror, we are showing an increased interest in relegated West Ham striker Demba Ba.

I personally don't know whether to take this as good or bad news. First of all, if we sign him alongside another big striker then I'd be very happy. However, if he's the only striker we bring in, with his dodgy knees I'd be concerned.

Anyway, here's the Mirror article in question, the title reads: "Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is planning to hijack Sunderland's bid for West Ham striker Demba Ba."

This also raises the question; if we were to sign 2 strikers, would we revert to playing a 4-4-2 formation? If so, who will get the two remaining spots in midfield (other than Tiote and Ben Arfa)?

I think it's highly doubtful we'll stick to one formation. I hope next year there'll be a high level of squad rotation, and also you have to bear in mind injuries and suspensions influencing team selection

Apologies, I've literally just seen another article about Ba. My excuse is that I'm out and using the mobile broadband and my internet connection is quite slow.

I don't see what the massive fuss is over Demba Ba.

Clearly if we sign him he will be the best thing since socks

You fail to see the reality of our standing in the world of football and are so deluded that if anyone who does see it you think of them as negative etc but the fact is im right.

    Right not negative

If you're so confident that you're "right", I will bet you £100 that we will sign a player for a fee and not 'just buy free transfers'

Sorry, didn't know you knew Ba personally.

I'm going to sit here in my blind optimism and actually be happy in life, don't worry about it.

Problem with Ba is he isn't big/strong enough to play up fron ton his own, but he is (possibly) too injury prone for us to play 2 up front.

Also don't think Gameiro is suited to being up top on his own either. Ba is probably better suited than Gameiro, but his possible injury woes would be an issue.
    Together would be nice.
Salomon Rondon or Sow would be pretty good too. Sow's probably a long shot though.
Maybe neither of these are the best approach

    God knows.

    Sow definetely.

Gameiro has pace so could play up top on his own, if we play properly.
