Firstly I'm feeling quite positive about most of the new faces that have come us over the summer, I'm also happier than a dog with 3 dicks over the fact that adel will start the season and who knows....add in DJ one touch, Dyer,Betty we really don't look bad at all. You knew it was coming so here's the but. What does God/NW/Colin See in the following: Radek Cerney - Loyal club servant, has performed miracles in front of massed crowds but at 37 even he was surprised to be offered a playing contract. What does that say of the lets not waste money mentality when we have a 20yr old 4th choice keeper who no one has ever seen. Putnins seems to have reached that awkward stage of we don't know what do do with him. I've had an idea, give HIM some preseason game time or get get rid. Make a bloody decision. Please. Hulk Hogan - Seems a little on large side to me and his preseason has not been good either, brought on to take a penalty in Italy only to miss - Get out jail card supplied by Murphy. locked out of other games with barely a touch. I cannot see how a player who struggled to get a start or even the bench in the championship can be cover in the Top flight. Harsh? Pat 'Dave' Agyemang - Another stinker in preseason. Somewhere I read the words "I have never seen a professional footballer with so little control of his legs" I whole heartedly agree. I don't know if we have many stat fans but what was his total game time last season? Issues over form? despite all of the above I really like the guy and wish we hadn't let this situation happen to him as he can score - once we get the ball off the roof. As I see things these 3 have been at the club a while and we all know others who may heading out as well (some we are sad to see go....cook) but IMO the gaffer should have taken a look at a few more trailists and frees because from what business we have done it just goes to show what can be achieved. The 25 man squad limit is looking like an issue to me as these 3 are not going to make the grade yet have squad numbers. The business done over the summer all seemed a little late as if Neil really didn't think he was going to be here so who do we blame if the 3 have to play, Neil or the board? Need to see a lot of work from Neil and the team or I think the 'Team spirit' may run dry quick. thoughts?
I'd be disappointed if he sells Gorkss - which in any case would be strange and particularly so in light of the loyalty shown to the lesser players mentioned above. Then replacing Gorkss with Perone would be even more disappointing.
The Perone contract offer was like a red rag to a bull, started to make me question NW's lack of dealings really. Gorkks IMO is the best defender we have because he can pass and scores from set pieces. Gabbi has also looked great until he has to kick the ball then it all goes a bit pete tong.
Haven't we signed Murphy from Ipswich. From what I saw and was told from an Ipswich fan he could be our number 2 keeper very soon. Cerny may keep that position for one more season
Cerneys best days a are behind him - he was surprised to be offered a contract, ie he doesn't think he's up to it. Don't think Murphy has signed yet, I swear if that goes wrong then look for a new thread titled 'WTF has he been doing this summer!' or 'How to keep all your eggs in one basket' Quality number 2 think he's Irish, always decent keepers.....
Simple Rhino, he was told at the start of the summer that there'd be no money for transfers therefore he's been forced to hold onto the dross we have.
Don't want to come across as a blind faith apologist for NW but he's by far the best and most competitive manager we've had in a long time (including Ollie, who was loyal and great at that level but still learning whilst in post). The job of managing isn't about crystal balls or magic wands, it's about coping: getting results despite the unforesee-able obstacles that emerge day to day. However, hate to have to bring the Goons into the equation but, I doubt even Hiddink, Fergie, Mourinho or 'Arry could cope with these F1 people tying their hands behind their backs... It's not a money thing, it's about understanding the game behind the business and finding an accord. The fact is Warnock's deal was with Bhatia. The club was singing from the same hymn sheet at all levels, then just as the results were coming in, along came Paladini and later Briatore to screw the lines. Warnock must have been feeling like he's been riding a bike with a buckled front wheel since May... Little or no investment or control over transfers doesn't make for rational team preparations; and neither does being publicly undermined with gagging orders and a status demotion from manager to 'coach' which simply adds insult to injury. On top of all this comes news that your own future remains in jeopardy, and for the most spurious of reasons. Come on guys, what price a cohesive management and development programme under such circumstances? Having said this, there are aspects of Warnock's management I would question (Taarabt as capt, only one defender amongst six subs, purchase of Clarke, Hulse and Moen etc. etc.) but at the end of the day, results speak for themselves don't they? However, whilst the presence of obvious no-marks in our squad hardly enthralls, the way things have been going this summer, it can be of no surprise to those of us interested in the club overall and not simply the team.
Sir Neil is dealing with at least one hand tied behind his back. Gorkss is one of our better defenders, letting him go would be bordering on insanity!
How does Hogan look "a little on the large side", and why are you judging him on a penalty in a nothing tournament when he's not our penalty taker. Buszaky missed too, right? Why not have a go at him? Hogan must of scored more goals preseason than anyone else. Didn't he get 4 against hampton and richmond? And how has Pat had a stinker pre-season? He's looked pretty effective whenever he's come on imo. Fair point about perhaps nurturing youth rather than sticking with cerny, but he's a good goalkeeper-regardless of age.
Swords that dross won us the league and the reason we find our selves here ... We have without knowing become fickle. Are we to become a we only sing when we are winning club?
How the F*CK is Dave a Premier League player, Oddball? Or Hulse for that matter? Or S*ittu? Etc Etc Etc When reality bites its gonna sting your crazy ass
Hogan rarely does a job given to him, don't know what you've seen but against the big boys he's not been great. Again this guy has got skill but he NEEDS game time and lots of it to improve his game(like we gave Adel) and we can't afford to give it to him. A backup player has to be able to do the job when called on and we wont be playing hampton and richmond much this season. Pat has had a stinker for the same reasons, he looked ok against lesser sides (except luton) but can't hold the ball up, can't dribble, can't pass a last man. He can shoot a bit and plays some nice passes when in a bit of room. He will get found out, he needs game time, he's never had it with us and will never get it. IMO Just give Radek the coaching job he was expecting. From the last few games he's letting one in about every 25 mins I think. @ 37 maybe he will start to improve flexibility and mobility but I doubt it. I'm not bitching these guys for the jobs they have done in the past defo not but after the season + preseason they shouldnt be around a prem club come new year. I ain't convinced there hasn't been any money its just NW has needed to convince the board for cash, He just wasn't given a sum to blow. It's a F**king hard job but he needs to get cracking. Bernie knows he has to protect the investment you just don't **** money by being so stupid. The signings we have made just show what can be done I Just want more more more....
