I might be in a small minority here but im gonna stick up for the lad. He's clearly the new scapegoat in town. It takes two people to make a good cross, the crosser and the person getting on the end of it. Now Elmo put a couple of good balls into the box but there was not one red and white shirt in the box, Bendtner was on the other wing, sess was 25 yards out and the rest of our midfield was on the half way line. Two proper forwards would have been getting on the end of them. That's a fact. Bendtner clearly gets frustrated and drifts out wide. Bruce needs to tell him to stay central and stay up top. Especially when we are 4-5-1 with no one ahead of him. I thought sess was great yesterday right up until his final ball, which was poor yet didn't get the flak elmo was getting. Would elmo be in my starting 11? No, but he always puts a shift in and he wasn't our worst player yesterday
Elmo is great in the air but his crossing is sh*te and he is as soft as hendo when it comes to making a tackle. We all have our opinions and i respect yours parker but he's not for me. I would however love him to prove me wrong cos whilst he wears that red & white shirt I will give him 100% encouragement and support
i dont understand what you mean more times then what you are suggestion elmo put a ball in and it went to the keeper, hit the first man or went to long...
agree Parker - only the BoBs seem to give poor elmo a hard time. a good sqaud player who always gives 110% he was not the worst player on the pitch - that was Bendtner by a country mile - but the BoBs love him. Bart
MS i have to say this is the time when i have to say watching it on telly actually hinders you Please take my word for it that elmo refused to run all game off the ball he whould play a ball forward drawing the defenders toward o'shea all game and then just didnt run i think bendner didnt get the support at all but he looked almost depressed and cut a lonely figure
possibly, but i still think the criticism by the BoBs is excessive. of course watching live on the telly you do actually see more Bart PS - for those doubters I am not just an armchair fan, I get to between 5&10 games a season (300 mile round trip), and was a season ticket holder for years when I lived in the beautiful Co Durham.
Its not just the BOBs though all around the ground you could here the crys tell bruce to get this **** of the pitch... its not just BOBs because not the entire crowd is BoBs
Well my view from the back of the north stand Oshea didn't help elmos cause much. Abu hamza could count on one hand the amount of times he overlapped meaning elmo had two players to beat overtime he got the ball. whereas on the other side bardo was constantly getting down the wing only to find Rico had gone missing. Im a fan of Richardson but he was invisible yesterday bar his header off the bar.
From what I saw, he did make too many crosses (that beat the men marking him), but fulham were always putting 3 men on him to stop him doing so. If we had 2 forwards up front Elmo would have had more space to put the ball in as Fulham would not have been able to put 3 men on Elmo without leaving too much space in front of goal. or if fulham had continued to mark Elmo with 3 men, then the 2 front men would have had loads of space to work in. Elmo is no Beckham, but he works hard and he has created goals for us when he has had space to do so (best example: he crossed the ball that Larsson put in the back of the net vs liverpool).
I don't doubt his effort but he needs to learn that he rarely beats the man as he is not skillful enough and concentrate on getting a ball into the box a much higher percentage of the time. The lack of someone in the middle is not his fault. As for his ariel ability it is obvious but again would like to see him arriving in the box more as we attack from the left. How successful this would be with Sess unwilling or unable to put a ball in with his left foot is up for debate but with a leap like that I want him in there.
Agreed on this distinctly underwhelmed with O'Shea far more deserving of derision than Elmo in my opinion the man looks disinterested to me... probably thinks he is too good for us.
