Its nothing if not exiciting to watch BCFC these days. Most supporters think that "City have no hope to achieve anything this season following a string of calamitous defensive errorsâ. Does McInnes really think that City are Manchester Utd and can out score the opposition. Clearly he is mistaken as the midfield and defence need to be sorted quickly otherwise City will drop into L1 The stats show that City's defence is now bottom, overall home and away ranked 24th letting in on average 2.17 goals At Home also 24th letting in on av 2.67 goals. Absolutely no clean sheets home or away. City have now lost last 3 matches and are w/o win in last 6 sitting at 21st in the championship, 2 points off of 23rd. The stats and the bookies have City heading for a relegation dogfight on current form. With Hull next up on Saturday, whats wrong with the current setup and what steps should be taken to reverse current slide? COR
You're posting more on our site now you know we have no power so what's the point in saying what we would do as its pointless as we cant do nothing but spectate
Foster (****e) Carey (****e) Nyatanga (****e) Mark Wilson (****e) Fontaine (****e) The defence is the problem, none of them are good enough, also hello COR
U have to look at the last few managers, its not since league one when we got promoted did the club invest in the defence. GJ had Carey, Fonts and McCombe which worked in league one and first season of championship with Basso outstanding in goal. Many years and managers later and we still have Carey and fonts at the heart of the defence. I cant question their effort but the game has moved on, players have got older and its about time the club brought in new players. I have lost count the number of strikers we have had but everyone can count on one hand the centre defenders we have bought. You also have to question the players he has bought from Scotland who are a league one standard at best. M Wilson has been poor. Replacing Cisse with Morris has been a joke and Foster who started off the season well at right back looks awful over the last few games at left back. I feel for heaton as he is one of the best keepers in the league but will struggle with our defence who let him down but if it wasnt for some saves last night it could have been worse. Thank god James isnt still here. Only firat team players i currently rate are Skuse, Albert, Davies and Taylor who has played well considering. Anderson we havent seen enough of and Sam hasnt had the required service to show what he can do. Woolford started strong but something has happened there as u dont become a bad player over night. J Wilson has the potential but no opportunity. He looked gutted last night when yet again they pick Carey over him to come on. Wont blame him for leaving if the rumours are true about the interest in him from higher clubs
Hi Shiny,Appreciate comment and you are feeling pi***d following last night I dont feel to happy about our result either ,but thats what its all about participation, who should go who should stay, underperformers is it the managers fault playing players outta position. All of you guys mention the defence needs shoring up BCFCRED said that they are all not good enough,So if you picked up a couple of central defenders in the transfer window or loan would that help?what about the midfield do you need 1 or 2 new midfield players to sheild the defence, some of them might be good at linking the attack but rubbish at breaking up play, so teams walk through the middle and the defence is always running backwards. Are the right and left midfielders glory boys, to attack minded again not getting stuck in supporting the defence when needed. Is Heaton any good at giving confidence to the central defence. We are all spectators with opinions if the team is not gelling then the management need to stick there hand in the corporate pocket to support the manager now if they believe in him? COR
Good call Andy sounds as if Heaton is spot on agree James was hit or miss, assume Foster is playing out of position as he has replaced Greg Cunningham trouble is he will always get caught the wrong side of attackers if that is the case leaving a central defender or midfielder out of position also trying fill the gap he has left. You dont seem impressed with J Morris, is he up to speed with the championship yet,has he got match fitness?as he came from Scotland it could take him a while to adjust his game with the new players.Still sounds as if he is not as good as Cisse though. Agree totally with the striker purchases you have always spent lots of money in this area and yhis area is working wekk.It sounds as if a blend of new players into the shaky defence is urgently required and an extra midfielder with the abilities of Cisse alongside Morris. COR
Foster (****e) Carey (****e) Nyatanga (****e) Mark Wilson (****e) Fontaine (****e) Just like to add..... Skuse (over-rated) Elliott (over -rated) Albert (frustratingly hit or miss) Morris (wtf?) Killkenny (over-rated) Basicly, we are dire from midfield back.......simples.
Only 1 question- how soon can we get Cisse back to protect our laughable defence. I must admit, Dels buying philosophy has me stumped. He has bought some first class strikers to AG but has little idea when it comes to defence or midfield. We need a Tony Adams and a Makele ASAP
'We need a Tony Adams and a Makele ASAP' - Of course we do, and we've all bleated on since Caulker went. The trouble is we have a manager incapable of sourcing such players. All he's done is spend on strikers, it's now biting him and all City fans on the ass.
At the moment we are in a mess; Too many injuries to key players - yes Too many not performing as we know they can - yes Too many being played out of postion ? Too many not being considered for selection? So what do DMc and doc do to get us back on track? It must be back to basics. Firstly put all the players who are considered first choice in their preferred/best position. Here are my thoughts and ignoring those who are injured at present:- Heaton, (Devil's advocate question - is he really any better than Gerken? Would Dean have stopped more of the soft goals we are conceding?) Foster, Right Centre Back, Mcmanus, Left Back Adomah, Skuse, Left Centre Midfield, Left Midfield Baldock, Davies Assuming everyone agrees with my choices and 99% will not, that leaves 5 places up for grabs. Who are the best from our current squad to fill the five gaps? At RCB I believe it is James Wilson - if DMc does not rate him, then let him go on loan as the current situation must be breaking James' heart and LB Joe Bryan; We may not see Cunningham back for a long time yet. LCM, if fit it must be Marvin Elliott and LM a toss up between Woolford and Anderson. Not having seen Anderson live, I can't make that judgement At striker, I somehow feel that Ryan Taylor should be in the team as he appears to be the best at holding the ball until support arrives, but his biggest drawback is that he does not get enough strikes on goal for a striker. Irrespective of whether anyone or no-one agrees with my thoughts and choices, the real question is; Are these players as a team good enough to ensure mid table obscurity for City this season? My opinion is that they are not. I think there are some really hard decisions to be made by our management team. They are showing admirable loyalty to many members of the squad but this could be our undoing. Maybe now is the time, before we get too much further in the season, to give some of the young squad members a chance. Reid, Edwards, Bryan, Amadi-Holloway. If it works then great but if not, we still have long enough to get out of the brown stuff that we are falling into now. We certainly need to refocus NOW!
Couldn't agree more let a couple of the "youngsters" have a go and play "senior" players in right positions. Font's injury may be a positive, if DMcM , makes the right decisions. I still think we haver enough good players to keep us up. As for Woolford, I thought one of the best aspects of his game (early on this season) was his tracking back, so would go with him. I also think that Skuse is overrated, too good at passing sideways or backwards and gets a nosebleed when anywhere near penalty area, & woeful shooting.. Probably our best bet at sitting in front of back four due to his workrate and tenacity though. If fit, although not liked by most I would go with Kilkenny (his is able to pick out a pass, once in a while) but would need Elliot wih him. I might be seeing games through s**t tinited glasses but it appears to me that when we are on the ball, around the halfway line, opposing teams put us under pressure, whereas when thay have the ball we give them too much room. Time for a bit of that do or die fighting spirit.
