Picking up on comments made on previous threads just what the hell is going on with our pitch Once upon a time our pitch was rated second to only Wembley regarding quality playing surface Is this symptomatic to MEs lack of interest in all aspects of ITFC The pitch looks like a threadbare carpet, have we changed groundsman? Or again are we witnessing the slow death of this once great club Lack of investment in a decent manager and the playing staff Lack of investment in the general upkeep of the ground Lack of interest from the board These are all signs of a dying club
Just to finish, I have a really really bad feeling in my stomach that apart from possible future relegation our club could be in for some very serious financial issues and all that entails e.g. Points reduction, administration transfer embargoes don't bear thinking about
Although I'd rather have a carpet - ( didn't we have a chap called Alan Ferguson, the best groundsman EVER for many a year ) or have I made that up.... SADLY the ' stuff ' we play under Mick, I'd suggest the worse pitch we have, the more likely we are to stop others playing and do well ourselves!?!? Don't get me wrong- a GRIM outlook but that would be my logic under Mick. As for finances = * We adhere to FFP at least. SADLY, this isn't going to get us any ruddy prizes anytime soon............ The ONLY real positive at the minute for everyone is the state of the academy. Massive shame re Dozzell this season, hopefully he gets back to his best next year. Supposedly there is a lad in the U18s the club rate even higher than Andre (name escapes me) but we clearly have an abundance of talent progressing nicely at the minute.... worst case scenario you'd feel is we sell for good £££. Best case, perhaps a season with 6 or 7 doing something special and us going up ( probably our only way at the minute Mick / no Mick ) is a talented crop coming and just tearing it up. So unlikely but you never know. Transfer spend has increased a little bit the last two years but it's clearly WAY behind others. Very stale right now....
With regard to our pitch I can never understand why it is frequently watered at half time.It seems to be another of Mick’s tactics to spoil it for teams who want to play football.
Unfortunately the way Mick wants the game played - the worse the pitch, the more that's going to help us vs opposition playing the game on the deck. Not saying I like it played that way, but with Mick's anti footy, it kinda makes sense to play to your strengths.
Our pitch went into decline when Ferguson was poached by St Georges Park. https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town...on-leaves-club-for-fa-job/?scrollto=post92855 Threadbare is exactly how I described it a couple of weeks back, the damn grass looks like we ground share with a rugby club. Too much water is not a good thing for a lawn and surely helps balling passing teams more because it zips about. There's obviously not enough money being spent on it, it was not so long ago that we were having turf brought in from Holland, now it wouldn't surprise me if it's bought from the guy down the local allotments. Just another reason why I want Marcus as far away from my club as possible.
