It's my birthday this weekend and I can't remember the last time we won on that weekend, it's time we sorted that out at Norwich.
Norwich are hot at the minute so good luck with that one mate. But as we all know...never give up on this group of players. TM recent interviews concern me though.
cannot see much changing as it stands, we know the current squad have enough about them so my main hope is that the recruitment team have been working damn hard to identify new players and some much needed experience, not going to judge young gelhardt as i think he has tried hard in a team he does not know that are used to a completely different style. would love to see more lads being able to be rested but as i said, hopefully the club are ahead of me there...due to the day and kick off time i see another bad defeat with norwich i'm afraid.
I think we should be utilizing Ekwah much more. For a long time we have been saying we need physicality in CM but now we have one...we hardly use him. Just my opinion.
I’ve been hoping Ekwah gets more game time as well, though a few moments make me doubt he’s the second coming of Vieira. There was a goal we conceded a month or two back and he was far too slow to try and get back to defend / track the runner. I like to see box to box midfielders really commit to getting back (or forward). Maybe he’s got more of an attacking mindset than defensive. There was a similar incident on the U21 highlights from the other night. He may not be the energetic and aggressive / physical influence that we are after in midfield. Having said all that, it’s very early days for him. I could be being a harsh judge.
It's amazing how a couple of defeats seems to undo all the good will that the previous 7 months brought
You surely understand that there is no club like us when it comes to bad runs... Things spiral with us like no other club
Ekwah against Stoke would have been the better option, if Norwich don't kick us off the park, maybe our flair players will enjoy themselves
there is, Norwich, who we play on Saturday they lost 16 on the bounce in their last PL season, we had held the record at 15 during the calamitous 2002-03 season
Yes and no, mate. We have had some **** runs and some brilliant runs in the past. This season has been stop-start with some brilliant football in the mix - not very Sunderland, you could say. I think we’re on for a bang average run to the end of this season and a slightly better than average finish in the league. The next four games could be brutal but it is a real test of our coaching and playing staff - while the drop in play-off momentum is gutting it is part of the evolution / learning process for our young squad.
I always felt our March fixtures were going to be difficult and we're going to need some patience! However,as I've said elsewhere from time to time,I'm not too disapppointed if the play-offs are beyond us this year,I think we're a work in progress and I'm expecting improvement to be signed in the close season, ready for next year, when I'm hoping we'll be able to mount a real promotion challenge. At the minute, though, this is where the coaching staff really have to earn their money.
I'm sure we lost the last 9 in a row under McCarthy then the first 6 the next season in Championship. I might be getting my seasons mixed up...
