I was shocked to notice recently, that Chesterfield, last year's worthy Div 2 Champs are currently bottom of Div 1. A clear warning to this year's crop of Div 2 clubs aspiring to promotion. Is the standard that much different up there? Which clubs do members think will adapt if promoted? and who might be coming straight back down?
Please discuss...and Chesterfield fans, please tell us what went wrong???

Old Timer - you would have been better to include Wycombe in your multi thread, there are not many Chesterfield fans on this site.

Wycombe are currently struggling to survive having also played more games than two of the teams below them and a poorer GD.

The team that has done well is Stevenage, who went up via the playoffs.

Dean Smalley was on loan at Chesterfield last year scoring 12 goals in only 22 games started and Craig Davies who scored 23 goals in 41 games left Chesterfield for Barnsley. Jack Lester was also out injured for 3 months this season No team can afford to lose that much striking power and expect to carry on as before.
