Now before you jump down my throat, I appreciate what the creators/owners of the site have done, it's been an unbelievably easy transition from the BBC 606, and in fact it's much better. Still, without asking for too much effort, is there anything we'd like to see? For example, I'd quite like some sort of notification when you've been quoted/replied to, so you don't simply forget an older thread without replying to someone's question (or sly remark ) In all honesty I'm not expecting anything to come of this thread, it'd just be interesting to see what people could come up with. I've tried to word this so that it doesn't sound like "Oi, creators, pull your finger out you lazy bastards!" but I'm sure that someone will take it the wrong way
I use this site through the not606 app rather than the website most of the time - due to it being blocked at work. I used to be allowed, but someone had a avatar of a lady with her tatties out a while back, and the moderators at work decided this didn't help me work... So back to the app... I'd really like the 606 app to allow you to favourite your forum so it appears as soon as you log on, or with as few clicks as possible - at the moment having to navigate all the way through all of the menus every time I want to quickly check the forum is a bit tedious - especially as the City forum is really the only place I use.
They ought to put a red flag function in so that if three or four users red flag a comment then the administrators have to decide whether to allow it to stay or go. It shouldn't be needed if people stick to football and sport instead of posting their very dubious or even wacky world views on subjects. I've never seen a football related comment on here that I didn't think was unnecessary, there are some really knowledgeable and clued up people posting on this site.
I would agree in most cases Nish but at the same time, TWF wouldn't be able to make any comments because he's hated regardless of what he says
Thats the point though, if somebody was unnecessarily flagged up the admins could just ignore it and the people flagging would eventually stop doing it in theory.
Pretty much defeats the object though - say 10 people flagged a comment but OLM thought it was ok it would be ignored, which deems it pointless. Good idea, I just have my doubts as to how well it could be applied.
In that case J-D we would have to have a revolution on here and get rid of this OLM person. He seems ok though, I noticed he closed off a couple of threads the last few days that were more political than anything sport related. I'd suggest five red flags would bring something to the moderators. Most people are pretty open-minded anyway so it wouldn't really be used too often you would have thought.
You can do that now in effect. Just pm one of the mods with a link to the offending post and a description of what you feel is the issue and the mod will have a better idea of the problem and it may only need one person to highlight it. We're not on line all the time and don't read every post so things can get missed.
Ok, thanks for that. I think it's pretty well run here anyway. You go on some sites and it's a free-for-all, at least on here people are paying attention to what is said.
There is a subscribe option, but the emails have been disabled for some reason. It was discussed on the mod board recently, I think instead of sending a message when a reply was made and then waiting for you to come online it was sending one every time a post was made. The problem with that being, if you think back to that Barmby thread there'd have been people receiving hundreds of emails in the space of a couple of hours. In the mean time if you look at the thread list, there's the icons at the left hand side. If you've made a post there's a little green arrow on the icon. All the threads with new posts are in bold. If I've been off for a few days (like today) I tend to just go to the bottom of the threads with new posts and work my way up. Unless something looks particularly relevent I just load the threads I've posted in. And if you look at the bottom left of posts there's a little triangle with an exclamation mark. If you click that it reports the post to moderators. I don't know about the others, but when someone does that it sends me an email with a direct link to the post.
Yeah I do the same, I meant something a little more specific, where you know when people have replied to your individual post, as opposed to someone else simply commenting on the same thread.
Too hard to administer, youd need it to be pretty much foolproof. What happens if I do what I've done here and "reply with quote" to your post, and then after I've answered you I go "Oh by the way DMD..." To make it work we'd have to all start posting like Tickler.
Many times I have read something and think it's great , but havnt always got the time to reply to the thread. A simple LIKE button like they have on Facebook would be good for me or they add a DISLIKE button well
A live chat room for either club, region or division. This was always popular on the original CI. site
