Hi guys, I saw recently that Massa reckons Abu Dhabi would be greatly improved if the hairpin before the long straight was widened, making it faster. This made me think, how can other circuits on the track be improved? Is it possible to remedy Bore-rain? Would track alterations make Valencia any better? We've had previous threads about replacing the dull tracks with the old classics we all want, but realistically, we all know money talks and it's never going to happen. Instead, I thought a better discussion would be how to improve upon the current roster of circuits, where necessary. Thoughts?
Bahrain and Valencia cannot really be altered much, same with a lot of tracks. Becuase of how they are built, there is little scope for major changes without ripping them up and starting again. Abu Dhabi has many configurations, why don't they alter some of it around, say miss the chicane after turns 2 and 3 and let them run straight to the hairpin. Possible overtake going in with the extra straight bit?
I think Abu Dhbai's chicane (just before the hairpin into the long straight) should be the other way around, as in going right, not left, but have the hairpin which wouldnt be a hairpin anymore in the same spot. It will make the corner a bit faster, having cars closer to the one's infront and therefore more overtakes into the next hairpin. And they should make the corner after that a bit less tight.
I agree Valencia may be difficult to alter within the confines of a street circuit, although theres plenty more streets in Valencia which could be used of course. With Bahrain, the 'Endurance layout' used for 2010 proved to be unsuccessful, but I think that was down to a lack of inspiration in design, than the landscape being a barrier. The fact they made adjustments hopefully indicates that they want to improve the spectacle. I'd like to see turn 4 made a bit slower, and wider, to make it more of an overtaking opportunity, as the subsequent section through to turn 11 really provides no opportunities at all.
You could 'alter' Bahrain and Valencia with a little thing I like to call the H-Bomb please log in to view this image
