They're more wrapped up with religion then us! Which comes over loud & clear when they sing! We're more reserved I think? We're top of the league but you wouldn't have thought it on tues night!
I just don't think people can be arsed to sing. We barely ever have any atmosphere, but it's not because of the football on offer, it's because the fans just can't be arsed. There's a new generation coming through and it's not really one that bothers singing and shouting. I don't know what the solution is, other than start a chant about being a library and shushing the other fans when they sing.
I'm sure you must all be mistaken. I seem to recall being told the KC was 'rocking' when it was pointed out before.
They reckon our thugby league clubs are a quite vocal? I think poor vocal support is a fairly modern phenomenon, we've had some good away days, usually when we haven't taken many i.e. Swansea & Everton midweek matches we're pretty good. It's a bit of a ****ter when you try to think of good atmospheres of recent seasons and can only come up with two!
Most grounds these days are quiet compared to how it once was. The modern day football fan and the all seater stadiums especially don't help. Bury was a great day for atmosphere and a reminder of how things used to be.
It's interesting how we have to go to places like Bury and Accrington to generate a good atmosphere. I believe there's more going to the Emirates than we took to Bury - I'd wager good money that the atmosphere won't be nearly as good though.
I went to bury & burnley both were well supported and when I was watching the game on tues night I thought to myself where are all those fans that sing away?
I've seen no mention of either our allocation, or how many we've sold for Arsenal, but as it's an early kick-off and on TV, I doubt there'll be as many as we took to Bury. Games in the south tend to have a different make up to the ones in the north, we have a lot more sit-down types at the southern games.
Someone posted on here the other day that there were only single seats left, but as the club are still plugging ticket sales and haven't mentioned only having single seats, this obviously wasn't correct. Even if we were heading for a sell-out, it wouldn't tell us anything, as we don't know what our allocation was. If we only requested 1,500 tickets, selling them out wouldn't be particularly impressive.
