It's been well documented how vulnerable we look (defensively) when either Lucas and Agger are both out.

There's an interesting but unsurprising stat:

We concede once every 130 mins when both are starting, as opposed 83 mins when they are not.

Key players for us, it's such a pity Agger gets injured so often.

agger makes skertl look good in a way that i only thought was possible for hyppia and carragher. not saying skertl is awful jsut that he is made look player of the year by his partner.

i think if we played agger and coates we'd be even better.

The Agger scenario has been costing us for too long now. As much as we all know he's one of the top centre backs around how long do we carry on without decent cover or even look at a replacement?

I agree that Skrtel is a lot more effective with Agger by his side. I think the partnership works well because they compliment each other. Both are playing on their natural sides (Agger on the left and Srktel on the right). Also, one is a ball playing defender and the other is a no nonense hard man.

Also, I agree that we need cover. Coates will be very good in the future but should still be used a back up. No doubt that Agger will be injured in the future and we need a cool, composed CB to cover.

  6. Agger can make any defender look good but the main reason Skrtel has looked better is because he as been playing RCB rather than LCB <ok>

I hvae said for last few years that Lucas was a key player!!! Plays with disipline, simple passes, strong tackles, covers ground too, unfortunately been behind Alonso, Macharano, and Gerrard, people forgot him or wrote him off, most midfielders would be poor compared to them!!! Not to mention he was barely 21, in a new country and learning a new language (in scouse!!!)
Agger is one of the best all round defenders for me, put injury prone, think you definately need a second, left footed CB

    This!

He has to play on the left to accomodate Carra so it's a lose lose!

I think most would agree here, the problem is when Agger is injured and the partnership split we start letting goals in. What do we do? Buy another Center Back? Give Coates the opportunity when Agger is out? Carra is a legend but surley can't be considered next season.

Agger is 6/4 to join Barcelona this summer according to skybet. Is there realistically any chance of this happening?
