http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16601927.stm I know they've joined Chelsea so it's understandable they'd make the move, but seriously, telling Luton they wanted to look at other options because they missed out on promotion last season? They're still 4 or 5 years minimum away from playing first team football what's the rush for Luton to get promoted?
Surely to god that is a mis-quote?? I can understand them going to Chelsea for a better standard of acadamy, but am struggling to see what Luton's failure to get promotion has to do with anything
Dont laugh. But Wenger is Pushing Rob Van Persies young son to join the club. FFS, thought child labour was banned in this country now. ? The ironic thing is that RVP says that his son might turn his back on football and take up golf which his son is equally good at.
These 3 boys might just of said goodbye to any chance of league football , being a big fish in a little pond has it's benefits. at Luton they would possibly made the grade and play week in week out for them and achieved the dream of being a pro footballer, at Chelsea their chances will be a lot harder to cone across . Unless they are very special. I think the problem is not the children but the parents.
I'm not so sure about that. I would have thought that even if the boys don't make the grade at Chelsea, they are more likely to get picked up by a league club than if they remained in Luton's academy
The thing is though that the big clubs do try and help the kids they discard find clubs. If you're a L2 club you're more likely to give a kid a trial if you think it'll keep you well in with the Chelsea management for getting other loanees than you are to spend money signing someone from Luton.
God Chelsea must be desperate. Or do they really see something so special in a trio of 12/13 year olds? It's the comment about Luton losing in the play offs though that makes me laugh! It almost seems unreal that article.
