Man Utd were somewhat fortunate today but you have to recognise that they were clinical and took what limited chances came their way. Apart from Rooney, praise goes to Smalling and Evra who I thought stepped up despite not being in the spotlight. Although not the most convincing display, De Gea made a few superb saves and should also be lauded. So the morale for the team will have been lifted. City players will probably be pretty annoyed about this. The match was pretty heated, some players did not perform, I'd imagine there would be a lot of finger pointing in the dressing room. To lose at home for the first time in ~ 2 years will also make them feel aggrieved and perhaps feel more vulnerable at home in the coming weeks. Mancini will be getting ever more desperate as his job security becomes ever more unstable. Do you think Josy Mareño will take the reigns at some point?
I don't get why people think we were fortunate. Did you expect us to go to City and dominate for 90 minutes. We were always going to periods on the back foot. City were the fortunate ones - they should have been 3 behind, we should have had a penalty and Tevez should have had a red card at the end. I do agree about Smalling when he came on though. I also think Rafael was quality.
We let City back in the game, infact if the right decision was made we would have been 3-0 up and gone on to win more comfortably i think.
Fortunate? What game did you watch? It should have been three nil, they wouldn't have come close if that goal had stood. It put us on the back foot for half an hour, almost understandably, but otherwise we fully deserved the win.
